Super Six

September 4th is the middle man's birthday!  Big SIX YEARS OLD!

We love him so.

The summer has been all about The Clone Wars.  The boys wake up at 6:30AM every day, and with school I didn't try to change that, even over the summer.  But Julia sleeps until about 8, or even 8:30.  So in the morning when she was asleep they got to watch their Y-7 television show on Netflix.

And David loves Captain Rex.  For a while he would quote from the show.  So his birthday is all about Star Wars and things.

We celebrated with balloons and a few presents in the morning before school.  But then to school he had to go.  Daddy and I joined him for lunch.

After school we went to the arcade at Main Event!  Their favorite!

Granddad even popped in!

Then it was home for spaghetti, cake and more presents!

Star wars cookie cake!

He is such a splendid kid.  He has done so well in kinder and that big transition.  I don't hear much but I'm taking that as a good thing.  He's making friends and playing soccer on the playground with new friends and he's reading like a champ.  He crushes all of his site words.

Grady is still his best bud.  They are two peas in a pod.  Them going to school together has been a fun novelty so far.  David runs in and tosses over his shoulder, "See you after school mom!" He loves his mama.  He is affectionate and huggy.  He needs lots of touch and affection.  He wiggles and jumps and can't sit still.  It's at its worst when he's tired.  All the movement.  Legs that won't stop jumping.

He loves walking home with J and E, their two buddies.  J is actually in First Grade but they are close to the same age and are good friends.  They love playing together.

He is such an easy going, happy kid.  It's hard to know sometimes, when he's happy and not.  He gets overwhelmed and super quiet.  But then afterwards he'll talk about whatever it was for days.  His brain works in unique and interesting ways and he understands complex concepts and is pretty good at empathy.

He is lying.  About stupid stuff.  More than I like.  Did you brush your teeth?  Yes.  No wait no, when he realizes he's lying.  Lying is punished pretty heavily here.  So the less trouble is not lying.  Hard to learn but a must.  If I can't trust him, he doesn't get to walk home with the big kids.

We had his friends over for a Star Wars playdate a few days after his birthday.

We played bingo.

And had a bubble battle with pool noodles.

And yummy snacks.

Happy Happy Birthday to my sweet, sweet six year old.  We love celebrating you all the much!
