I'm obsessed with their eye colors.  Because they are all different.  I had some strange preconceived notion that all of my children would have brown eyes.  Imagine my surprise when I had two of them with blue eyes, and those not the same color.

On the phone:

L: Hello?
M: I have some very bad news.
L: What happened?
M: The roomba managed to suck up the cord to the camera and pull it off the desk and it broke the sensor. [this is a paraphrase because the original was filled with tears and rambling]
L: [something somewhat comforting but meaningless]
more of that here and here.  Also something ridiculous about "buying a new one."

L: When you said their was bad news I thought maybe the dog was dead but you were a little too upset.

He is always good for a joke.  It is his super power.

The camera is now at the repair place, waiting to be taken apart to see if the sensor is in tact, just dislodged, or if it's broken and needs to be replaced.  He also has the big lens [UGH. UGH.] to make sure it's not damaged too.

This camera and I were just starting to get along.  I felt like we had finally introduced ourselves.  Like I knew what I was doing.  Like I knew what I wanted it to do for me and it was making it happen.  It's a year old.  I'm not even going to get into how expensive it is.  But oh my gosh.

I wait with bated breath to hear what the diagnosis is.  I can't even really put into words what a broken camera means to me.  I realize it's ridiculous.  It's just a thing.  An object.  Grady went so far as to say, but mom, it's a want, not a need.

I did take the jump and have the DSLR repaired too.  It's shutter is broken and needs to be replaced.  It will be nice to have both options.  But let's just all put the positive thought into the world that the sensor does not need to be replaced, just repositioned.

Irregardless I'll get it fixed.  I think.  I dunno.  What a mess.
