Ladybug Girl
This girl.
Two is such a challenge for me. I am not patient with the "I know what I want but OH MY GOSH I CAN NOT COMMUNICATE IT TO YOU MOMMY WHY ARE YOU NOT DOING WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO" stuff. I'm just not.
And you know ... 90% of the time I know what she wants. I do. I'm a mind reader. I know that she's pointing at the pantry because she wants the stupid candy bin. I know. I know she doesn't want her peas so she's pointing at the pantry yelling "uhhhhh! uhhhhhh!" for the candy. Girls sweet tooth is legit.
But it's frustrating because yes, I know what she wants, but she doesn't understand that she can't have it until she eats her peas (if at all - cause candy ain't for every day ya'll, ask a dentist). Cause and effect is lost on her. I want it mommy. SO GIVE IT TO ME NOW.
Time out is a thing for her now. And bless her heart she knows what it is and she doesn't like it. She screams like D did. Maybe worse (octave wise) - but memory is a fickle thing and we forget. I know D tested me (still does) and his fits lasted. Oi they lasted. He couldn't recover. Ever. J gets over it. D, bless his heart, he just couldn't. It was like a thirty minute ordeal if he started melting down. Still. Is.
Anyway.
The girl.
There are things that are so different about her that I notice every day now. The boys are 100% boy. D is so tactile and physical, always has been. G is very literal and analytical and "but why mom. No but why". Logic is important to him. D doesn't care. Can he tackle it? Can he blow it up? Can it be broken in some way? Cool. Lets do that.
J.
J brings me her dolls and says "night night" and wants me to lay them down under the blanket. J brings books to you at any time of the day or night and wants you to read them to her over, and over and over. J says "tanks mom" all the time. For nothing. She will walk up and give me pats on the back and hugs. She wants my chapstick my hair brush, she's memorized by my make up bag.
When G sees me put make-up on he asks which babysitter is coming. He has no interest beyond that.
The biggest difference I guess ... J thinks she's me. She thinks anything I have is hers. She thinks anything I do she should do. What I have she should have. The boys didn't / don't seem to have that identity thing going on.
All that to say ... you can't pigeon hole this girl. And I think that'll be true her whole life. She loves soccer and kicking soccer balls and throwing things and racing cars with her brothers. She loves chasing them around the house and making them push her in the fire truck. She loves Wild Kratts and Ready Jet Go.
And for the boys too, this all goes both ways, just know that. They loved watching The Pirate Fairy or whatever that tinker bell movie is called - by the way - LOVE the tinker bell movies and the "tinker" fairies and the pushing of STEM with the fairy stuff. Effective and subtle and very well done, I feel.
But I see the boys going nuts at the end of a long day and they really fit the get-more-hyper-as-they-get-more-tired motif but she really slows down. Like lays her head down, lays down on the floor. If I left her I think she'd fall asleep. The boys do not do that. They would be more likely to rage and scream and have to be rocked until they were calm and then pass out hard core.
But she is a good sleeper. She still does a test of the emergency mommy system every now and then, which is a random wake-up sometime between 10:30-11pm and she just wakes up screaming. I go in, give her a hug, lay her back down and she's fine. I swear she just wanted to know I was still there.
But girl sleeps till 830. It's amazing. She hates waking up early. Which actually is a big ole problem rounds these parts because I single parent most of the week and have to get G to school by 745. So we wake her up a lot and she naps and I wake her up from nap for pick up and by 4pm she acts like she's starving and by 6pm she's ready to go to bed.
Can't believe she's almost two.
Also if you haven't looked into them please look up LadyBug Girl books. Ladybug girl has a big brother who is not always nice and thinks she's too little but she is NOT she is Ladybug Girl! And Ladybug Girl can do ANYTHING! And she uses her imagination when she's bored and she's very fun and the boys love her too.
