Is there anything better in all the world than a three mile run followed by a cup of coffee?  I just don't think so.

Oh.  Yes there is.

Happiness - truly - is a four mile run followed by a cup of coffee followed by a massage and a really nice day at the spa.  That was last Saturday for me.  And that's going to become a regular thing for me.  Because it was glorious.  [By regular I mean like, annually]

But on a normal day, happiness is a three mile run and a cup of coffee.

I have become one of those people.  My legs hurt if I don't run.  My muscles throb and I get what me and Kramer call "the jimmy legs."  [Video is PG-13 btw]. It hurts and it's horrible and no amount of rolling helps.  The Seinfeld reference is for my husband because all things relate back to Seinfeld in some weird way.  [He is also entirely to blame for my Seinfeld education.]

I'm proud of myself and yea yea "go me" but it's something I had to do.  The number on the scale was awful.  And there were no more planned pregnancies so it was time to try to lose some baby weight.  And BBC alone wasn't doing it fast enough and I was getting frustrated.

And I am happy to say that I've lost 10lbs since Sept 20th.  It's not a solid 10.  Like any normal person it fluctuates but the lowest I've gotten on the scale is ten pounds lighter than it was in September so I'm counting it damn it.  Don't judge.

I would like to lose 3-5 more pounds.  If I do this that gets me to where I was pre-David.  Right now I'm pre-Julia.  I have no idea what I was pre-Grady.  I know at my lowest it would be another ten pounds and while sure, I guess that's doable, I'm not interested.  I like cake.  And pizza.  And you know ... wine.  So I aim for 5, with the goal of maintaining the weight loss with 3/4 runs a week or BBC.  But whatever.  I'm a normal BMI again and that actually is goal, achieved.

I feel good about myself.  And I like that I can get three miles done in just over 30minutes and that puts me on a good path for the rest of the day.  I wanted to do an hour today, because I waited till I only had J.  But we have an "arctic blast" coming through and I didn't put mittens on her and she got uncomfortable after 25 minutes, bless her heart.  And I got worried about her poor fingers.

For the curious - she had on her hat and her coat, boots, obvi, but I heated up my foot warmer that mom made me (filled with rice I think?) and put it under her legs and then a blanket over her.  She was toasty warm.

Except for her fingers.

For my part - running in 30 degrees with wind chills at 17 degrees felt like death the first mile and then it was great.

The family is doing a 5k with me this weekend.  It will be way slower than I want and I will be frustrated.  But hopefully since I know that going into it I can enjoy it and my 13 minute mile pace.

My last family 5k group run (I say "group" but I was the only person that showed up besides the instructor!) was on Sunday.  Who would have thought that little ole me, who's done BBC for years and does work out and I've run 5ks but never well or in an organized, training fashion, would be where I am now?  I never thought I'd be able to do it because I honestly hate running.  Or I did.  But I don't hate the intervals.  I love the intervals.  A lot of people don't because I don't know why.  They are weird.  I love the intervals.  I will run 4minutes and walk 1minute my way to a half marathon.  And I will be thrilled with myself.
