His 4th Birthday Party

I had never thrown my D a birthday party before.  We had always celebrated but never with a party with cake and presents and friends and games.  So I kind of went all out, so much as I go "all out."

We struggled with a theme.  The boys are really into pokemon lately and ninjago and all sort of things that are more appropriate for six year olds.  When I settled on Wild Kratts it fit perfectly and we were pleased.  It was a great fit for everyone that came and for both boys and girls.

I made everyone creature power suits and power disks and the hardest part there was affixing velcro to the laminated power disks - it didn't work with glue, hot glue, super glue, tape, etc.  I settled on stapling them.  And even then the velcro was too strong and pulled the staples out.  But the boys played on and they were pleased.

We played kangaroo races, cheetah races - grab the cheetahs tail, and then a fishing game that was the big hit of the day.

We had pizza, played more games, wore masks and generally ran amok.  Happy Birthday was sung, candles blown out.  He was well celebrated.

Though he was not as excited about the group as I had hoped.  He is shy and feels overwhelmed.  When he is older we will obviously reassess but as for now, I think the smaller affairs are more his speed.  Though after he settled in, as is his nature, he did have a great time.  My sweet muller.  It just takes him a bit to adjust to situations.

It was a great party.
