G put the star on top.  He put the first ornament on.  He showed me ornaments he remembered making.  He marveled at his baby picture.  At David's.  It's my sixth Christmas mom.  Yes.  Yes I know.  It seems bizarre to me.

I've done this six times? With children?  Does not seem possible.

But then a time before them feels as foreign as all the years with them.  Maybe more so.  I have all but one Christmas card that I've sent out since we've been married.  Lewis joked that eventually we'll only have that as a decoration and it'll take over the whole house.  It's incredible to look at.  It's also crazy how I've aged.  What's up with that?

It's been too rainy to put the lights on the house.  But hopefully this weekend.

It's a merry time here.  The baby is getting more and more likable for her own sake, and not because she's the baby.  She's a sweet disposition and affectionate.  She likes the boys cars and all the ornaments.  The lights.  I've spent a small fortune on Christmas pajamas.  I can not help myself.

I see her getting out of the baby phase and to toddlerhood and it feels very sudden, even though it isn't.  It is odd - after six years of babies - to be done with that phase of life.  It's a good thing, believe me.  But I have spent the better part of the last 8 years thinking about being pregnant, being pregnant, nursing, or thinking about being pregnant.  8 years.  That's two Presidential terms.  Since W I've thought about being pregnant.

So this new phase of life (which really isn't new until J gets to the point where I'd have another one - so when she starts pre-k - expect some tears) is just interesting for me.  Exciting and a good thing.  But ... definitely a change.
