I am a spoiled ridiculous girl.  Ridiculous.  About 75% of the time I know this about myself.  But sometimes I can get caught up in the weeds of this American life and just ... forget.

Today is Glennon and Momastry's and Together Rising's big fundraiser.  And they are raising money to build a new wing for a birthing center in Haiti.

And I dunno.  Because I'm a mom,  because I have three babies, because I lost two pregnancies or because I know women who have had pregnancy losses even with the very best of care ... it hit me hard.

Today I was struggling with David.  My big feeler, emotional, whiny David.  He is King David.  He has been King David ever since I choose that name for him because of King David in the Bible.  Little did I know that naming him that would choose a destiny for him of Drama King.

It's okay.  He comes by it honestly.  Have you met his mother?  You live too close to Hollywood, was said to me often.

So today he and I were struggling.  He doesn't want to use the potty.  He wants his diapers.  He wants to wear pull-ups all the live long day and be happy just going in his pants.  Well.  The world has decided he needs to be potty trained and should use the indoor plumbing by 3 years of age.  So we were struggling, he and I.  Him not wanting to use the potty, me forcing him to use the potty.

And then I read the post from Momastry about Haiti.

I am a prime target for these things.

When G was going to the hospital for his endoscopy it was time for the Children's hospital radio-thon.  Yeah they got my money that year.  And the next year I think.

When Lewis was having his heart surgery I received a mailer for women heart month (I think February?).  Yeah they got my money that year.

Well as I have just gotten out of a virus cycle in our house, and I live in the most spoiled place on earth (Dallas - looking at you) reading this about Haiti just about knocked the perspective into me.

So they got my money too.

I wish I could magically fix al the worlds problems and give women that want them safe healthy deliveries and places to take their babies.  I know the world doesn't need or want to live like I live, but everyone deserves clean beds and water and midwives to help them deliver babies.  And someone to hold them when things go right or wrong.

Maybe it's because I'm not far out from delivering Julia.  Or maybe it's just because I had three healthy pregnancies that resulted in three beautiful children.  I don't know.  Glennon is good at hitting women where it moves them.  She has a gift.  She's using it.  I have a little bit of money, so I gave it.

I wish with all my heart that that matters.
