Behind the lens

I've been lamenting lately how few pictures there are of me with my kids - specifically when they were newborns.  I went through a similar period with David.  There are virtually no pictures of me with him as an infant.  It's mostly because after giving birth and being up feeding a baby all night long the last thing you want to do is get dressed, put on make up and take pictures.

I've taken literally thousands of the babies themselves.  And literally maybe a dozen of me with them.

But I did take these.  And at the time ... I loathed them.  I still don't love them.  I look horrible.  But the reality is (shrug) that's how I look.  And that's how I looked.  The one up top there ... that's the reality of life with a two week old.

And mostly ... look how tiny!  She literally fit in the palm of my hands!

I'm so tempted to hire someone to take pictures so that there are some candid pictures of me with my kids.  These years are so fleeting.  I know I will look back again and think, man, where was I?  And the answer is always the same ... behind the lens.
