Photographers make a killing on "milestone" pictures.  These are newborns, three months, six months, nine months, one year and sometimes even 18mo.  The reason is kind of simple; there is a huge amount of change in that amount of time.  And if you get pictures taken at at least those intervals, you're baby book won't look like you've neglected taking pictures of your cherub because you are on #3.

I was asked to take pictures for a friend after her baby is born.  So I was contemplating yesterday as we're in the third layer of hell (three month regression / wonder week / skill jump / baby brain computer booting up / whatever you want to call it) that I had not taken any "portraits" of her at three months and had just taken my monthly - in the chair in her room with the horrible light - pictures.

I have a picture of the two boys ... Grady is 2.5 and David is 1 month.  It is my very favorite.  It's in my kitchen.  When I took it I hated it because David had a paci in his mouth and G was looking away and his hair was a hot mess and the composition wasn't what I wanted and blech.

But now ... it's my very favorite.  There's a blurry school bus in the background and there's a sign that says "give thanks" next to them.  And it's my very favorite.

I look at it and am happy.  I've been trying to get some sort of replicated picture with Julia and the boys but it just doesn't work.  They won't hold her right Grady just wants to squeeze Julia until she can't breathe and David is over it.  Pictures are not his bag.  The above was achieved by bribery with cookies.

But I take them and I keep most of them because in a few months, when she looks different or the boys look different ... I just never know which one will become my new favorite.

Still too soon to say for sure ... but pretty sure I have another blue eyed baby.  She is absolutely beautiful.  And even though her sleep patterns are an abysmal nightmare from which I am always awake when she smiles at me it makes me happy.  She is such a sweet girl.  She sleeps for crap.  But she's a sweet girl.

I have moved her into her room.  Her dad is done with the cosleeping; it makes him too nervous and in these things you have to have 100% buy in from both parties so I had to move her.  Also I consulted my book and when it talked above moving baby from family bed to crib it said it was done relatively easily between 3mo and 4mo so combined with my husbands wishes ... I am moving her.

I am miserable but I am moving her.  So say some prayers for me and that she gets her sleep more organized soon.  Feeding her on demand at night is making this process hard.  She was up every two hours last night and she's not eating this morning.  Which means she's got this a bit backwards.  So tonight or the next night I have to force a "missed" feeding which - if any of you has done this before it's a pain - means she has to cry for a bit until she gives up and goes back to bed, without getting food.  She will then probably sleep an hour, but will wake up again because she's hungry.

But ... she needs to wake up hungry about 630.  So this is what I must do.

In good news, this organization means that she's in a safer sleep environment and hopefully in the next three months is sleeping through the night (at least six hours).  So ... pray for me.  I need it.
