Two Weeks

I always like the idea of these types of pictures. But I can't pay money for them because I just don't think you do a lot with them long term. I couldn't quite get her to curl up low enough but the general idea ... well you get it.
I can justify newborn pictures because I think you keep those around (and on the walls) forever, to remember your babies. And maybe to remember just how much effort the parents put into keeping them alive those early months and years!

There seems to be quite a difference between Miss J at one week and Miss J at two. She is much more alert. Her awake periods are longer (and fussier). She isn't going to sleep as easily, and she's more aware of the boys and sounds.
I won't know how much she weighs until tomorrow, but I'm hoping she's back at 7lbs 11oz (birth weight) or more.
By end of day her eyes are more white but when she wakes up they are yellow again. I'm slightly worried about her jaundice levels, but her face, legs and arms are normal colors but her trunk is still kind of tan looking. The doctor evaluated her last Friday and said he thought she was fine (she had gained some weight and she's eating / expelling like she's supposed to). But I always worry.
She is not an awesome sleeper. Meaning - she is not a by the book baby. The rules state baby should eat every three hours and sleep flat on their back with no blankets and no pillows in a crib or bassinet.
She did not get that memo.
While she will sleep away from me during the day - and I have gotten her to take two naps in the cradle for more than 2hrs - at night she moans and groans unless I hold her. There's a lot of cosleeping going on. And sleeping on the couch with pillows on both sides and my feet up.
I don't remember this stage with my other two. I have vague memories of D and he slept easily in the swing so we did that for a long time. But J won't even consider sleeping in the swing. I know that the first two weeks with G were very hard but I don't remember how he was sleeping or where. I don't think I co-slept with him at this age because it just made me too nervous. I know I was awake a lot. But with one I was able to sleep until about 9 or 10 and nap during the day if needs be.
With three? I've gotta do things a bit differently.

She is a sweet heart and a pleasant baby, most of the time. I hope the sleep stuff resolves itself (safely) and soon. But my friend with four kids says she'll want to sleep with me until I force her not to, which won't be until she's 3/4 months old. I really, really hope I can fix it before then. But who knows.
In good news, she is a good nurser and eater. With all her night feeds being 2-3hrs apart I feel like my supply this go round is higher than with the boys. But no way of knowing that really. And my memory is really faulty.

She is still tiny, which my boys never felt tiny to me but she really does. Like I said I'm hoping she's gained a fair chunk of weight and is back to birth weight but it's really possible she isn't. She was 7lbs 8oz last Friday. Surely by tomorrow (a week later) she'll have gained three ounces. Surely.

We did some tummy time and she's just so sweet. She's pretty strong and has decent control of her right arm, more so then I remember with D for sure.
Two weeks and I think we're doing pretty good. Not following the "rules" at all. But - and I forget this too - I hate all the rules and I just think they are made by lawyers and not by parents and are just not reasonable all the time. I will continue to do my best. That's really all I can do.
