Family of 4.9

Am super hopeful that this is the last family of four picture session I will do. It's not easy to wrangle the three men. One of them has a very, very, very short attention span. Seriously Lewis will only give me like five minutes. I have to have all my poses planned in advance and my settings ready. Which doesn't always work great for me; I'm more of an "over shoot till you get it" type. So the focus on all these isn't awesome. But the general idea is there. There are 4.9 of us. 5 of us truly, because while she may not be breathing air yet ... she's very much here.
I was using the sewing machine the other day and dropped something and it made a really loud BANG. The baby jumped. It was crazy. I told G that baby sister could hear him, and this blew his mind. She can??? Oh yea buddy. She'll be excited to hear your voice in real time. He was also concerned about his pecking order, now that there will be two big brothers. But I am the first big brother? Yes dear. You will always be the one that came first.

I loved G's nursery in our old house. I would just sit in there and daydream about what a baby meant. Having absolutely no idea what that meant. A baby.
This time. I look around this room and think ... okay ... what can I focus on when I want to throw the baby out the window? What will give me peace and inspiration? That sounds a bit morbid but it's reality. Peaceful nurseries are for parents. Soothing spaces to sit and repose and think, yeah, I like it in here.
Good. Because it's your new jail cell for the next year.
When I was doing boys nurseries I saw tons of stuff I liked for girls. When I was doing this one I saw tons of stuff I liked for boys. I'm drawn to the boy stuff. I look at the airplanes and think, she'll like that. We should get that. But I don't. I didn't spend a ton. I bought fancy curtain panels. Which have spoiled me and now I want them IN EVERY ROOM IN MY HOUSE. They really are just so nice. Make a huge difference. I did buy crib bedding. And a baby quilt. Mostly because I had bought one for both boys and my sense of equanimity demanded it. You know how often my kids used those quilts?
Yea. None.
But girls are different. Who knows what will happen.
