Pregnancy Notes

It is bizarre to me that I'm in the home stretch of this.  That I've been pregnant for over half a year.  It's such a long time but it goes so fast.  But it starts so slow?  I know that time is constant throughout but it certainly feels like it changes speed with the seasons of our lives.

32 weeks on Friday.  One more appointment till the real fun begins.  By 33 weeks with D I was having nightly contractions that I had to monitor and time, and eventually go to bed to make stop.  Will that happen this time?  I don't know.  But I guess I'm prepared if it does proceed that way.

I have mixed feelings on going a planned route; I could schedule an induction in the 39th week.  This is appealing because I could plan the whole thing out.  Childcare, meals, the bag would be ready.

But the baby might not be.

So, that being a pretty huge negative against the planned route, I will go the other way.  And wait it out.  With an induction planned for near 42weeks.  Lord pray that I don't go that long.  That puts this baby somewhere near March 13.

The thought gives me shivers.

But D was born early (38+6).  So it's certainly possible.  We shall see.

I have no certainty on the name, so you needn't bother asking.  We have four or five good names, and we'll have to decide when we see her.  It is strange to have so many names and no real sense of "this is probably it" but there it is.  We're tired of discussing it and there's no resolution to it so might as well wait till we see her.

I have had a fairly straight forward, easy go of it.  If one takes out the 12wks of copious vomiting.  Which I've blessedly forgotten about.  I am anemic this go round, which I wasn't with D but was with G.  Remembering some of the problems I had during delivery with G, I'm staying on top of my iron supplement.  Even though I do try to eat plenty of iron too (the holidays are hard though).  But one has to wonder if part of my issues post delivery were a result of the anemia not being under control.

So I can't complain.  The pain I had with #1 I have had with #3, but I know so much more now that I can manage that too.  Why didn't I do yoga stretches and pillow tricks with #1??  And why didn't I google?  Was I just too busy?  Or shy about talking about such things?  I dunno but I was an idiot.

All those prior times I worried about the baby and how things would go and I have all that now but boy with #3 do I get over whelmed ... how am I going to do this?  There's no good answer.  The only thing I can tell myself is that women the world over have done, and continue to do it, with much fewer resources than what I've got.

But that oh-my-gosh-I'm-going-to-drown feeling is already lurking.  Three.  But G will be almost 5.  He's already pretty independent and he can help.  He's a big help and he will want to help with baby sister.  D is maturing every day and he'll have the harder time adjusting but he will have big brother to be a good example.

It will - hopefully - go better than I fear.

I'm actually not too worried about the early days.  I'm worried about months 3 - 6.  When no one's sleeping.  When babies tend to have growth spurts and nursing strikes and tummy issues and sleep problems.

But at least this time, no one's having heart surgery.  Knock on wood.
