He's Two

These were taking with an as of yet undiagnosed double ear infection.  So I'm surprised I got as many smiles as I did!  He is in love with his backpack, and wants to dig through it every time he sees it.  He wants so much to be like big brother and the big kids.

He hasn't had his appointment yet so I'm not sure on his stats.  He's due a growth spurt, he's getting very round again.

I just scrolled back up and the one of him in the backpack and pouting just kills me.  Love it.

He's a good eater and a good boy.  He has a nervous laugh.  When he's in trouble he always giggles.  I refuse to believe he's laughing at me.  I think he's just nervous and not sure what's happening.  He's getting more and more aware of "trouble" though, and does not like time out.  But he will go.

He is definitely a two year old.  Do you want a cookie? No.  Do you want chicken? No.  Do you want to play? No.  Do you want anything? No.  No is always the answer.  No no no no no no.  He needs a new word.

He throws tantrums and is emotional.  He loves dinosaurs and Dinosaur Train.  He sings the song.  Cars are still his favorite plaything.  He loves the train table and racing cars.  He loves books and especially loves taking them to Daddy.  Daddy read!  Daddy book!

We were walking out of meet the teacher on Friday and we were walking with a friend who said to their 3yo, "We're going to go buy a new backpack!" To which D perked up and said, "I have a backpack!" clear as day.  Our friend was floored.  I don't know what other kids do but my two year olds speak in full sentences.  Booya.

Okay only sometimes.  Some other times they just yell "no" at the top of their lungs.

He always has a contemplative look on his face.  Like he's planning his next shenanigan.  He's a climber and a couch diver.  Always on the back of the couch jumping onto pillows on the floor.  He wrestles with his brother and gives massive bear hugs.  Ma-dee is going away.  It's mommy now.  I will miss Ma-dee.  And Marmee before Ma-Dee.

He is my sweetie face and my cuddler.  He wakes up from nap and wants to sit with mommy for many minutes before he's ready to join the world.  He loves his private time with mama before naps and bed.  We still rock and have milk in these times.  And I will probably continue doing that until the bedroom situation changes.  Which is a post for another day.

He does get more ear infections than I like.  But I'm hoping he grows out of them soon.  He's on the wait list to start school, but I'm really kind of glad he didn't get in.  I'm not ready for him to go.  He would cry and have separation anxiety at drop off and I hate doing that to my kids.  He will need to go soon, and if he gets in I will send him.  I think it will be different this year now that he is so aware and will see G go off to school.

Update …
So today we had our two year well visit … he did awesome.  I had measured him at home last week and only had him at 32".  I put that into the chart online and it had him off the chart.  I was nervous.  Me and that chart have a love / hate relationship.  No there's no love.  I hate it.

But today they had him at 33.5" and 27.5lbs and his head was great too.  On the chart well and doing fabulous.  Meeting all his development milestones, exceeding several (verbal) and just rocking it out.

He's amazing.  I didn't put this in the earlier update … but he's a parrot.  Repeats everything.  "Would you like a snack?" "I'd like snack."  Bye-bye Daddy.  I love you daddy.  "more pancakes mama!" "More hotdog mama!"   "G come play!" "G, come see!" "Trash truck G!"  "Can't get me!" "I'm going to get you!" Just every phrase he hears, he repeats, and uses correctly.  Now everything isn't clear, I doubt strangers would understand.  But we do.  G does.

They all got hair cuts on Monday.  More pictures tomorrow.  It's that fall time.  Lots of pictures.  Lots of events.  Lots of fun.

Two big boys.  They are marvelous.




To say that I love these two is an understatement.  They are the highlight of my life.  Happy birthday sweet boy.
