… Napa was wonderful.  Though I do wonder if I am a Napa person.  I like drinking wine and sitting on patios but wine tastings are more about talking about which bottles you've bought and which flavors you like the best and I don't like talking about wine that much.  Or drinking ten different kinds of wine in an hour.  I couldn't handle it.  I was glad we had done things "wrong" and drove an hour West to go visit Armstrong Redwood forest and then the petrified forest.  It was a pleasant drive looking at all the pretty scenery.  If I had it to do all over again, I would have driven even further West to the coast to our favorite wine's winery, Flowers.  But we didn't think about that till it was too late.  We didn't really plan.  That first day we were trying to think of our favorite wines and I decided … I think we should go to Italian / French wineries.  But Napa was beautiful.  And it was nice to jaunt around without the kids and see the Golden Gate Bridge and trees and such but I missed my kids.  But Napa just isn't a kid friendly vacation.  No way I could have swung that.  Now at home, D had a bit of a meltdown about being alone in his room.  It was super unpleasant yesterday.  And Monday night he cried for an hour (with check-ins by me intermittently, no one call CPS).  Yesterday he wouldn't nap and screamed - SCREAMED - until he threw up.  So that nap was ruined.  Bedtime went better.  Minimal crying and he slept till 630.  So he'll come around.  Granddad thinks he has abandonment issues.  Direct quote. Oi vey.

… The missing airplane freaks me out.  As do everyones politically motivated attempts to explain what happened.  Anderson Cooper appears to be on a mission to prove it IS NOT terrorism.  If it does turn out to be terrorism, I sure hope they replay his coverage when they start talking about "how this could have been prevented."  They did profiles on the pilots while conveniently leaving out a key piece of information.  I know all about their degrees and their hobbies, political affiliations, but hmm … what was missing.  Ah yes.  Are they Muslim?  Now, to say yes does not mean they are guilty.  To say no does not mean they are innocent.  But it seems odd to leave it out.  If they were Christian I think they would be saying it.  Meanwhile there are others out there that are SO SURE it is terrorism that they are drumming up fear everywhere they go.  Myself?  I find it all convenient.  An airplane missing this long, which no one saw crash, with a government known for keeping things secret that keeps releasing information days and days after they get it … I tend to think the airplane is sititng somewhere, stolen.  And probably for nefarious purposes.  Or maybe someone from Bitcoin was on that plane and was escaping the maffia's wrath.

… G keeps telling me things he learned from his Granddad.  "I'm inside the store mom!  I don't HAVE to hold your hand!"  While he swats away my hand.  "Mom only grumpy people cry."  Or, my personal favorite, "We took Mavvy for a walk mama and she's a real ugly dog."  I am sure there is more to come in this series.  My father, for his part, finds it hillarious.  I believe Granddad-dom suits him.
