Somebody is 18 months old today. I've been saying he's 18 months old since he was like, 16 months old because it's just so much easier.  No one wants to hear you say oh he's 15 months.  He's 17 months.  A year and a half.  That's all they want to know.

I didn't measure him today.  He's somewhere in the 31in range and the 25lb range.  He's walking everywhere and has been for sometime.  I guess he started walking full time about 15 months old?  There was a rough month there where he used those walker things and now he doesn't touch them.  It was so long at the time but looking back, so short.

He's talking, mama, dada, G, dog, truck, bubbles, please, choochoo, look (constantly saying, look! look! apparently I say this a lot) and lots of one off things.  The other day we were trying to feed him on the plane home from California and he screamed all done clear as day.  The kid was done.

I'm working on body parts and he can do ear, head and sometimes nose.  He's not doing many animals yet, so we'll see.

He walks up stairs appropriately and is getting better about down.  He's stacking blocks, knocking blocks down, playing with toys and loves, loves, loves Lightning McQueen.  Way more than G did at this age.  At this age G, being my first child, had yet to be introduced to Pixar.  That came at 19/20 months.  And he was all in on Buzz.

Anyway.

He sleeps 11-12 hours a night and takes one nap that's 90minutes long.  The one nap thing has been really hard on him.  But I put him and G down for bed earlier than I used to do G, so it's working.

He loves playing with toy cars and blocks and the marble magic tower.  He's very vocal and doesn't like it when G manhandles him.  He shrieks and has started pushing and hitting his brother.  I put him in time out and he goes and sits there and looks at me with big smiles until I call him out.  Getting put in time out like big brother is fun.

I don't know how to handle that.

Parenting him differently is a challenge for me as I'm one person and I don't really know many other ways.  He is emotional at this stage and moody and understands what's happening and what he wants but he doesn't have all the words to explain.  He gets frustrated.

For the record, I believe this phenomenon is what people refer to as terrible twos, but I just see it as a development point where he's learning to express himself and how to fit into the environment as a child and not a baby.

He is so affectionate and loves his mama.  Seriously I don't deserve it.  But he just thinks I hung the moon.  He loves routine and when he knows what to expect and what comes next he just lights up.  It's amazing.

He eats well.  Mostly he eats cheese, ham, turkey, eggs, peanut butter, fruit, pizza, spagetti, Mexican food, chicken, humus (his favorite), crackers, on and on.  He does not like avocado, and I've tried.  He does not like cows milk.  I've tried.  But he drinks almond milk so I move on with my life.

He's also just beautiful.  He needs a hair cut but he has beautiful skin and when he smiles he's just a really handsome guy.  Who still has blue eyes.

He is a bright spot in the universe.
