Iced In
If you've been near a television you know that a winter storm has gone across the country and we in Dallas were not immune. It started Thursday afternoon and it stopped Friday but the temperatures didn't get above freezing until today. Even still, many schools are closing tomorrow so no return to normalcy is expected until Wednesday. It's almost like the weather men predicted it, and now the schools have to make that come true so they don't look bad.
They are in cahoots I tell you.
We left the house for the first time today. We went to the grocery store because we were low on everything and the grocery store still doesn't have meat or dairy. Apparently the 18-wheelers with all the goods are stuck on I-20. Which is just ridiculous. I could talk all day about how waiting for it to melt is a good plan but when that isn't working people should reevaluate and come up with better solutions. THere was nothing done to the streets in Frisco. Which, okay fine. We don't own a snow shovel so I can't really get too upset that the city doesn't own one either.
But I-20? Really? Either close the road or clear it. You can't have deliveries stuck on an interstate for days. But whatever.
So we're all stir crazy. All of us. All of my girlfriends are all over facebook squawking and missing dry roads and school schedules and normalcy.
Friday was fun. We did arts and crafts and played in the ice. Chalupa hated it. With the passion of a firey sun. Cold is not his thing. We went sledding in the street in laundry baskets. We walked around while it snowed singing carols. Fun stuff.
Saturday we watched some Christmas shows. We played some more in the ice. We wrote letters to Santa. We mailed them.
Sunday was a little less enthusiastic.
Four solid days. So far, school is still on for tomorrow in our district. But I bet that's changed to delayed start which means no preschool for G. Which is okay, except I had a bunch of things I need to get done for the Christmas party on Thursday. Oh well. Flexibility is the key to airpower.
