From Christmas13
A few more pictures for my moms trip home.  Every gift G got was a hit.  There isn't one he does not love.  But the presents that he asked for, that when anyone asked him what he wanted for Christmas, he said Jake and the Neverland Pirates Pirate Ship Bucky and Captain Hooks Jolly Roger.  He said the whole thing, only slightly varying it occasionally to just Bucky.  But either way, there was no doubt what the kid wanted for Christmas.

I suscribe to the three toy philosophy.  But having only done Christmas a few times (this was my 4th, but really only my second, as the first two G had little understanding), I consider my philosophy a work in progress.  This year I got them each a toy (Woody, Little People Train), a book (I just grabbed two books from the scholastic order), and a bath towel. So want / read / need.  Three things, three wise men.  You get it.

But where I messed up was a joint gift.  I had gotten the boys three sets of geotrax used and couldn't just give it to them so I had those out for Christmas morning.  That by itself would have been toy enough for both of them.  Especially considering all the other toys they got.  But live and learn.  The resale sites on facebook really are useful.  I've only sold a few things on there but I've bought trains, a bike, and snow gear.  Things I don't want to spend money on and see no reason they have to be new.  Especially snow gear.  I'm very good about buying ahead for next year - which is a whole other post that I might post here in a minute.

Either way … all the gifts were a huge hit because I also help the extended family with what to buy.  The boys have a wish list and I told the gma's what the biggest hits would be.  So the gramma's bought the pirate ships.  So the gramma's presents are pretty well adored.  His aunt got him some wonderful fine motor skill toys, which I hope to break out today.

I had tried to donate some toys to "make room" before Christmas got here but I could have gotten rid of quite a bit more.  There's a race track upstairs that the boys got last year … it rarely gets played with.  It's truly not it's fault.  It's up there with the trains.  Nothing stands a chance against the train table.  I'm raising a couple of engineers.

I'm surprised though how big a hit little people stuff is with G.  But he loves playing pretend with them.  Those little people have been to the north pole more than anyone else in this house.  Because all trains in this house are the Polar Express.

It's a fun time of year.  Until next year!
