Progress
This weekend was about birthday parties and not much else. We had one on Saturday and one today. Both parties, due to I'm sure late scheduling, were right smack dab in the middle of nap time which just means chaos at my house but we make do.
So before birthday party number one (12n - pointedly noted on invite no lunch served) we went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. There's a play area. It's nicer than McD's. Issue? G won't eat there. Not even a little bit.
But you never know till you try. Again.
So we sat and had a good spot right infront of the play area. He couldn't go play till he ate one bite of chicken. At first he just refused and ate some of the fruit and nuts from my salad. But as time wore on and more kids went and played, he decided maybe he did want a bite of chicken.
He ate one. It might of even just been a half of one or a quarter of one (we took a chicken nugget and cut it up).
This was really great progress.
And then today it was cheese cake factory and he ate their chicken strips too. He even tried some of their bread with butter. It was really great. He ate maybe a piece and a half of their chicken strips. It was a miracle and we spent the whole meal fist bumping and high fiving G for being awesome.
And I was doing my happy dance.
I know it sounds dumb. Part of my brain cringes and just says you are begging and pleading with him to eat fried chicken. Seriously? I mean if it were kale or spinach or rutabagas, that'd be okay. But chicken strips? Ugh.
But if you know us and our situation maybe you understand. And maybe you're doing a little happy dance right along with us.
He's maturing. He seems to understand he can either listen to mom beg and bribe and he can say no and cry. OR he can just take one tiny bite and go play. And the doctor said that by age 5 we can start laying down rules but for now we have to let him eat what he'll eat. I didn't believe him at all until today. Maybe it is possible!
It was a great weekend for eating. And Chalupa is just wonderful. He rode his first carousel and he loooooved it. Like babbling the entire time and holding on for dear life and just squealing with laughter loved it. It was adorable. He gets cuter every time I look at him and he's just maturing so much and I can't believe that he's ten months old on Thursday.
Oh it's flown by. Months 4-6 totally dragged but the rest of it has just flown by. He's a wonderful little guy.
