Sleep Follies
We are in the nightmare. I am living the nightmare.
Chalupa is waking up every hour. It's ridiculous. It's horrible. He's not even hungry. Sometimes he's gassy and I do some yoga. Sometimes he's gassy and needs to burp and spit up. Sometimes he just cuddles into my shoulder and falls immediately back to sleep. I rock him for maybe 15 minutes, make my way back downstairs for my 45 minute nap, and then it's back upstairs.
It's horrible. I'm exhausted. I'm half a person. I honestly don't know what I'm doing writing this blog I should be sleeping, except that I want to write it down so that when it's over, I can look back and say oh, yeah, that SUCKED.
He's so sweet. He's a little smiley, cuddly exhausted tot and he makes me worry for him. He's teething and I'm afraid the ear infection isn't gone but we'll find out about that on Monday. He chews on his fists like his little life depends on it and I'm telling you, early teething is so hard to witness. They just hate it. In good news, G only acted like this (exactly like this) for the first two, and then he was like, eh, growing teeth is old hat.
So I keep telling myself (and having Lewis tell me) that this is a phase, if I keep faith, if I fight the good fight, if I keep on keeping on, he will get it. Just like G did. And I am trying. I really am. We're going to nap in the swing because oh Lordy he's so sleepy. But at night I'm trying my hardest to get him down by 6. Because that's what worked for G. Three naps and bed by 6. I'm trying.
So pray for me. Because I may be upstairs in about twenty minutes and rocking a sleepy baby back to dreamland.
And I remind myself that G rarely rarely asks for cuddles. And though I am sleep deprived, I should kiss those chubby cheeks and love him. Because he is just a baby, and he is just trying to grow.
