Potty training ... the beginning middle ... and EE update

Today G went to preschool with his new skill of going in the potty.  He did pretty good, by my measure.  The school doesn't necessarily agree (or disagree, I guess.  lets call them neutral).  He went when they took him and was telling them he had to go, I call that a success.

She said he struggled, so after they told me that first part, then still said he struggled, I was confused and went back to talk to the teacher.  And got some clarity, and I explained to her he's going to have some difficulty because of his medicine.  I'm hoping to get him off the meds next week.  I've already taking his dosage down.  This is not medically advised (or frowned upon).

He came home and used the potty.  Like I said he's still having what the school calls accidents but I think they are unavoidable until he's off the meds and his digestion gets back to square.  But I couldn't delay potty training.  He was interested and wanted to go.  Strike while the iron's hot and all that.

I think he was interested, for what it's worth, because at school after they've gone a whole day and stayed dry, they get to pick a prize out of the "treasure chest".  His friend Cash (his favorite next to Bryson) got to pick a prize recently and I think that's why he came home talking about going potty and getting a prize.

He's such a big boy, and growing so much.  He makes us so very proud.  He tries very hard.  He does not like disappointing me.  He is more obedient than I have any right to take credit for.  It's just because he loves his mama, and doesn't like it when she's mad at him.

He whines at me though and that drives me nuts.  But he's two.  We make allowances.

To the EE...
I'm taking it upon myself to treat his EE the way I treat his excema.  Medicine sparingly, and with attention to when it flares up. To that end I've halved his medicine.  One it's more practical and two he's not throwing up and I think it's improved.  No way of knowing without a scope.

I believe he is allergic to diary.  Not in the oh my he can't ever have ice cream way, but in the it might bother him if he eats it type way.  When he's a bit older, he can make the determination himself, if he's willing to risk the heart burn (and itchies) to have some.  For now, mama's making the choice for him.

Why do I think he's allergic to dairy?  Well it's a hunch more than anything.  But he started vomiting again when we tried to put him back on milk.  And then on another hunch, I stopped the yogurt and his excema is not flaring up.

Does this mean the dairy is causing the EE?  No idea.  But it's my best guess.  Seriously G eats like ten things.  Removing one is kind of a hassle but milk is the easiest of them all.  If he's still throwing up after all of that then I'm in trouble.  It's not Celiac, he's been tested twice.  But it could be a nut / soy allergy and that would rock his world because then what do I feed him?

So I guess contrary to what I told the doctor, I am sort of going the elimination diet approach.  But not hard line.  I don't want him growing up thinking he can't eat things (seriously he's picky enough).  He can eat anything he wants but there will be side effects.  But I'm hoping that with limited interaction maybe it'll straigten itself out.  I hope hope hope hope hope hope.

Hope springs eternal.

These are things I never thought to have to worry about.  I'm paranoid about Chalupa.  I am scared to feed him real food because I'm scared he'll start throwing up like G did.  It shows in how long I've waited to start things.  I hope he's doesn't have a milk issue.  But his gas was super bad when I drank milk, so I cut it out, so I'm not encouraged.

But .... at least I'll know exactly what to do.
