Potty Training ... The Beginning End
So after two weeks I can say that we are at the end of the beginning. Or the end of the introduction of potty training. He fully understands the concept. He knows he's supposed to put elements into the potty.
He's doing great. We went straight to underwear as I mentioned except at naptime and bedtime and that's mostly because I'm lazy. Naptime would be okay (he's waking up dry) but bedtime ... I imagine he'd wake up at odd hours and need to go and rather than deal with that, and a baby that still isn't sleeping for any real length of time, we're just in "night time pants."
I imagine in six months he'll be old enough to go on his own? Or at least old enough for me to leave his bathroom door unlocked without me fearing he'll play with the water in the tub? Okay maybe not. I don't know how we'll handle. It's a quandry.
He has very few wet accidents. Lots of ... other accidents. His medicine (which I've just taken him off completely, thanks in large part to a horror story my mother shared. Thanks mom) was helping that and with him off the meds for a week that's going a lot better.
Being off the meds, he's not relapsing. Yet. His excema is acting up again. Which makes me shake my head. It's not as bad as it would be if he were drinking milk, but it's acting up more than I would like since I was really hoping the dairy was causing that too.
As I've mentioned time and time again I'm really just trying to help him gain weight and keep him off the steroids. If he were throwing up and gaining weight I'd just skip the whole thing. But .... the weight issue.
Donuts seem to help him gain weight a lot. It's bizarre. Kid can eat cookies and other foods like they are going out of style and not gain an ounce. But donuts go straight to his gut (take note ladies).
So as far as I'm concerned, G is 70% potty trained. Only reason it's 70% and not like 90% is because he still has issue getting his pants up and down successfully (which this is something he was doing on his own with regularity 8 months ago) and because of the ... other issues.
