3 Months

G at three months.

These were both taken at home so are not scientific.  He was as long as my quilting ruler (24in) and that weight is with a diaper on, so give or take a few ounces.

He seems about on par with what a three month old should be doing.  He'd probably be rolling over if I had him on his tummy more, but he was sick and I can't have him on the floor as much because G might throw a lego at him or squish him or run over him as he chases after the dog.  But it's on the agenda to get him some more floor time.  Don't worry folks; I'm on it!

He's super strong, movement is not far for him.  He's blowing bubbles, smiling at me, his brother and his daddy specifically (recognition).  It's super cute when he smiles at G.  G really likes it so it's like a little reward for him too.

He's inconsistently "sleeping through the night."  As I've said I'm not forcing him to do anything.  I'm still feeding on demand (though I try not to let him go more than three hours during the day).  He went on a nursing strike for two days.  I had forgotten about those.  They are frustrating and I take them so personally.  Why don't you want me?  At one point we resorted to offering him a bottle (he seemed so hungry but wouldn't eat!) and he ate two ounces from that.  So my fatigued, taking-it-personal-brain decided to take the bottle away and just do battle.  I won, he nursed.  In my mind I was thinking I am not pumping for 9 months because you prefer a bottle!  I joke that I take nursing for granted but I am incredibly stubborn about it and I really do intend to do it for a year or more.  Luckily the strike passed, for the most part, on Sunday and he's doing much, much better.  He hurt my supply (which may have been his intention), but he's doing much better.  Last night he went from 10PM to 5AM (yippie!) so I feel much better today.

He's been sleeping in his own room since the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  So however long that is?  I try to get him in there for his morning nap at least, but with preschool and life I fail at that a lot.  He definitely wants to be asleep an hour or so after being awake.  So by 9 or 10 he wants to be in bed.  His morning nap, so far, is his longest at an hour.  The afternoon I can't get him to sleep more than 45 minutes unless I sleep with him.  Which, gee, is such a hardship, cuddling with my little baby.

His room has terrible lighting. But I want to keep with the chair so it is what it is.  My seasons are not lining up.  G's winter stuff is 9mos and I need 6mos for Chalupa.  This outfit is 9mos and it's big.  It's scary how well it fits actually but it is big.

He's a very cute child.  He looks so different than G, to me.  When he sleeps I see similarities but when his eyes are open he looks so different.  I see much more of me in him.  He may have my ears and my eyes.  The blue eyes, we're not sure, but they may stick?  Only his DNA knows for sure.

I actually went through most of yesterday not remembering it was the 4th. Then I got the camera out to mess with my white whale Christmas picture and it dawned on me I'm supposed to be taking pictures!

I didn't get it, but I got some good ones.  Chalupa smiles now pretty readily.  I haven't found a sure fire way to make him, just look at him and make noises and he'll smile usually.  But he'll get there.  I love that picture over on the left, middle of him.  He's just so darling.  G ain't bad looking either.  He loves trying to give Chalupa toys and trying to make him play with him.  They will be good friends I hope.

It's hard to get them both together.
