Christmas Tidings

We went to Kansas, and visited with my mother's side of the family. It's a sad turn of events but we rarely visit with my father's side. Growing up I felt somewhat close to my cousins on that side, but time has sort of eroded that bond and stupid squabbles has made it even harder. Some of my cousins don't speak to their own father, my uncle.
But that's a post for another day.
The stress of this holiday season has been thick. Because of that I forgot half the stuff I was supposed to bring for family, and I left the keys to a friends house in my purse which faciliated us driving to Tulsa and buying a quick airline ticket for Lewis to fly back to Dallas to make sure our friends dog didn't um ... suffer? About an hour after I dropped my husband off at the airport, the car started missing and five miles from my Aunt's house it died at a red light.
But that was the most dramatic part of our trip. Other than that it was a merry time, and G loved the presents and the toys and being able to eat cookies whenever he wanted. He wakes up in the morning and asks "open presents?" Just like with Halloween, I have to disappoint. Nope, we can not go door to door and beg for candy every night, and no, we can not open presents every morning. Such is life.
In an odd twist, as we drove south home, we came into snow, and there was two-four inches of snow at our house. G was excited about it but only for about four minutes at a time. Then he got too cold. We just thought it was sort of funny that heading south, we ran into snow.
It was a merry time and it was good to see everyone. Chalupa really lit up every time he saw my cousin. And she seemed to like him okay. It was fun to see my sister too, who is 6 months pregnant. Which, dash it all, I didn't take any belly pics of her! GRRR. Not like me to forget pictures. That tells you how stressed I've been!
