Two and a Half

From _lightroom3
The half is kind of important. There's just such a huge difference between two and two and a half!  I tried to list things that he likes, that I'd like to remember that he likes.  But it's actually kind of hard to do.  How do you express, in 300 words, an entire emerging personality?  For instance I forgot to put that he's obsessed with all things train and Thomas the Train.  Why this would be?  I do not know.

When we drive he always shouts, mom I see something!  It's usually a truck, bus, race car, train, train track or other thing that goes.  When we are home he shouts, mom I hear something!  And he rushes to the window to see if he can see what it is.  Usually, it's an ambulance that's driving down the road.  And then asks, Can we go chase it?

He likes to paint, and paints his hand and then puts paint all over the paper.  Then immediately wants to wash it off.

He's also very into the alphabet right now, and picking out what letters are what.  He's getting better about his colors and knows most of his standard shapes.  They are working on octagon at school.  They did the color purple last month and everything was purple.  Now they are doing black and gray and he wasn't mentioned either color.  Though if you point to a car and ask what color is it he will say black (even if it's red).  I think this is because his dad's car is black.

He still loves rockets and planes and tents and everything else that he loved before.  He hasn't really moved on from much, that I can think of now.

His helicopter shirt is his favorite (behind buzz lightyear).  And his favorite jacket is his helicopter jacket.  This is the only way I got him to wear a jacket.

G is very loving.  He tells us he loves us all the time.  He gives lots of hugs and kisses.  He loves his brother and says he's nice and cute.  He tells me to take care of baby brother when he is crying.

He can also get frustrated and throw things.  And shush his parents, finger to lips, and very agitated say shh!  He has told his father to shut-up.  We have had a come to Jesus about that one, and it has not happened since.  For some reason, the urgency and badness of that got through.  But the same conversation on the shushing has not worked.

He's eating better and not throwing up as regularly.  We now tell him, when he is coughing, to put his hands on his head.  For some reason this distracts him from the coughing and he does not throw up.  Dumbo and his feather.

He's still not eating a varied diet.  It's a bad habit that's started and honestly I don't know how to break it.  He's still not gaining weight.  Still hovering around 23lbs.  He's taller.  And smarter.  So he's growing.  Just not rounder.  He looks like most of the other kids in his class so I'm not overly concerned (just underly) but his waist is teeny tiny.

I tell people my kids are two and a half years apart but my mother always makes a face and says they really aren't, because Chalupa was born when G was just over 28 months old, not 30.  My mother gets a bee in her bonnet over silliness.

G enjoys building towers and playing with his brother.  Chalupa's eyes have improved and he can see objects hanging over his head (his mobile, his activity mat) and we pulled the mat out over the weekend and G relived his misspent youth.  Pictures of that soon.  Chalupa really liked the mirror (something G ignored) and the lion on it.  G really liked the bird.  The thing that he stared at when he was a baby.  Kids are funny.
