We started off with breakfast at the local place. First meal out with the new one. Then a trip to Target, because no day is complete without at least one. Then, when we pulled into the driveway, I decided we should go to the lake.
Can we tell I've been at the house a lot?
We took a two mile trail and saw a lot of grass hoppers. Which I think are gross and really too close to locusts in my mind so they are really a plague. Though I didn't voice these opinions. As my husband seems to think boys should not be afraid of chasing/touching/catching bugs. I don't disagree. But they are creepy crawlies. And gross.
Then after naps we went to a local balloon festival!
It was really hot and really crowded and G does well with neither. Who does really?
He watched the balloons with passive interests. But when we got to the car he started talking animatedly about them. I think it's the whole, "I'm back in a safe place and therefore feel comfortable" thing.
Because he literally spent most of the 90 minutes we were there like this ...
But I do think he enjoyed them. Just after the fact.
Today we are doing not much. I've made breakfast, deleted some not really friends on facebook, and watched daddy and G build a different train set up.
This is hours of entertainment. G could play trains all day long. "choo choo!" he says. "Ride the rails!" he says. "Back to the [round] house!" he says. He is a human parrot. Yesterday I called some driver who did something stupid an idiot. And he says from the back seat, "she's an idiot mama." Oops. Driving is where I will get into trouble. All of his negative words are going to come from that. Must be mindful.
Occassionally this morning he would come sit on the couch and cuddle.
I am on the couch for half an hour to forty-five minutes at least every three hours during the day and sometimes every two. So it is good during the weekend for his dad to be here to play with him during those times. During the week he has to entertain himself or I do put on a half hour show for him.
I am glad, in one respect, that I weaned when I did with G, because he has no memory of it. And when he sees me holding D on the couch he doesn't get too curious. Just assumes I'm holding him. It would have freaked me out to have him regress in that respect (which I've read that young toddlers have been known to do).
D is a good baby but I've been bad the past three or four nights and staying up too late. It's making the last wake up in particular, difficult. I swear I look at the clock and think "you just ate! go back to sleep!" And then a few minutes later reality sets in that, oh, 2 AM was three hours ago. Darn it.
He only goes 4 hours once, he can't do it consecutively. Or he doesn't. So he'll go one four hour period during the day, and one four hour period at night, but never back to back. And usually after a four hour period he wants to eat every two / two and a half hours there after.
Like Lewis says ... he's just trying to get big. And it will pass. All too quickly really. And if this is our last child (big IF there) I don't want to rush through any of it.
Happy Sunday to you.
