Thoughts

... D has to move out of our room.  He's too noisy.  He grunts and moans and shifts and mumbles and he has to move.  So I'm going to clean out my closet and he's going to take up residence in there, which is not quite the dungeon that it sounds like.  I want him close, but right now he's too close.  I want to start better habits this time around.  With G I was rushing to him every time he made any sound at all, and I'm doing that with D only because I don't want to wake up his dad.  And, I figured out he falls asleep on his own if I just lay him down sleepy and walk away (this wont stick, once his sleep cycles even out this will be harder for him).  But better to start these habits now.

... Pre-school is going really well.  G cries at drop off but he may cry the whole year.  He wants to spend time with mama and baby brother.

... He loves his brother.  First thing in the morning he says, "where's baby brother?"  And he has to go find him.  When D is crying, G gets very upset, "help him mama!"  It's pretty funny.

... He's picked up major words at pre-school.  Weekdays, more colors, words to songs (I think), and his personal favorite, "crazy."  Everything is crazy.  "That's crazy mama!"  "That was crazy mama!"  "You're crazy mama!"  And the dog and daddy are for sure crazy.

... when he gets moody and tired he wants nothing to do with his dad.  He gets mad at him almost, for trying to talk to him and play with him when he so clearly needs to rest.  It's very strange and I'm not quite sure how to handle it.  Last night I pulled out mean mommy because he was being rude / mean to daddy.

... Daddy had to punish him over the weekend.  G hit the dog with his golf club (plastic) so daddy took the golf club away.  G did not understand.  He thought he'd hit the golf ball and not the dog so he thought daddy was just being mean.  Upset, he ran around the corner and hid to cry.  Daddy had to go get him.  I tried to talk to him, explain why the golf club was taken away, but he didn't get it.

... Funny anecdote from the delivery that I meant to write down ... as I began to push, and it hurt because I stopped the drugs about an hour before, somebody said something about how painful labor was and I said to Lewis ... "yeah well, even right now in the middle of this I can promise you I want a third one."  And Lewis scoffed and said, "that's because your memory falls out with the placenta."  Which the entire room thought was hysterical.  My husband, the comedian.

... For the record, there are many pros and cons to a third one.  And we are going to have to weigh them all.  The conversation has been tabled for 400 days.  I have a lot of soul searching to do on the subject.  Three makes it harder to travel, bigger car, more expense for savings, another college fund, harder on a baby sitter, yet another three years before I'm free and before we can start functioning outside the world of infants again.  Pros ... another baby.  More to love.  Another sibling.  A girl ...  Notice emotional arguments versus practical ones?  :)

... Pre-school is wonderful but I miss G when he's not here.  It feels weird.
