G EE Update
Hopefully I can keep this short. So G went on the medication beginning of April, and he went off beginning of May. It's now July and he hasn't thrown up, though I do think he's having reflux sometimes.
This is the other reason I'm allowing him the water at night; there's good science that says drinking a lot of water between meals can keep the acid at bay.
But I'm seeing improvements in other areas of his appetite. We tried hotdogs last week. And while not a favorite, he did eat it! I'm the only mother in the history of EVER to get excited about giving her child a stupid hotdog, but if you check the protein content of a hotdog you'd be excited for me too. My next steps are to encourage more hotdogs, and then introduce scrambled eggs. Which I do believe will be a harder sell.
I also want to try protein shakes or something because the child needs more protein. I can replace vegetables with vitamins (not ideal but I don't care) but protein is much harder to come by.
I think that the reason I'm seeing improvements is because G now fully understands "hungry" and when to use it and can tell me exactly what he wants to eat. When he gets over wrought he has a hard time and can't settle on any one thing. But typically we can find something after some negotiation. We went to the doctor last week and he weighed 23 pounds. This is a false number as he was fully clothed, but it is a step in the right direction. I'm still adding calories (fat) to his almond milk and will continue to do so - it has NONE. I'm going to wait till he's three to start introducing cows milk again, and I won't do whole, we'll go to 2%. I think that whole milk is ridiculous hard on tummies.
Like right now he's telling me he wants more peanut butter. Excellent.
Oh one bad thing ... he's still a pain in the butt about feeding HIMSELF. He'll let me (or someone) feed him, but it takes an act of Congress for him to feed himself. Preschool is going to be a challenge.
Open house is tonight. More on that later. Wish me luck. I'm going to have to keep it together at the drop off. It's going to be very, very hard on me. He's growing up so much this summer.
