Differences between first pregnancy and second become abundantly clear

So yesterday, after a night of not much sleep because G woke up at 230 and ratted around for half an hour and I can't get up in the middle of the night and fall back asleep anymore ...

Let me start over.

After the night previously mentioned, G woke up early and I ignored him for a long time.  Then I got up and made breakfast and started txting to find plans for the day because we hadn't done much all week.  We settled on storytime at the library and then a playdate after nap.  So we go to storytime, which he does okay at but it was loud and the woman didn't hold his attention very well.

He didn't want lunch when we got home.  So I tried nap without it.  Sigh.  So stupid.  He didn't sleep.  He was up playing in his bed for almost 2 hours.  I finally just went in there, ready to be mean mommy about him not sleeping.  Well he saw mean mommy coming and put on his biggest pout and said, "hungry," in the most pathetic of voices.

Even mean mommy has her limits.  He had pooped too.  And we all know that poop is the number one enemy of nap times everywhere.

I digress.

So we move on to playdate at 4PM.  We walk the three blocks.  In the high heat.  I brought two bottles of water.  But even the short distance ... by the time we got there I was having contractions.  I sat in a chair with a pillow behind my back but still was uncomfortable.

We stayed almost two hours.  G loves their house.  I was still contracting.  Walked home.  Contractions worse.  By the time I get home I'm really afraid of preterm labor.  Nothing hurts, persay, but I am very aware of the tightness and the uncomfortableness and it has got to be braxton hicks.

I come home we rest, it does not get better.  Drink more water.  Does not get better.  I mean it's not regular or anything, just ... I don't know how to explain it.  But it is not something I experienced with #1.

With G I had no idea that I was even having contractions.  I was in the hospital, hooked up to a monitor, watching the machine tell me I was having contractions, knowing I was dilated to 5, and didn't feel a thing.  And that was before the epidural.  I mean I did eventually feel the contractions (and get the epidural) but the early stuff?  Nothing.

So this last night was scary.  What do you mean this baby can come whenever he wants to?  No no no, I have to have a plan sir.  A way to make sure that big brother is taken care of so I can focus all my attention on little brother without worrying.  I owe little brother (and big brother) that much.

At 32 weeks we'd be lucky if the small child weighed 4lbs.  Lucky.  He wasn't coming last night, but it was definitely my body getting ready.  Hopefully - hopefully - he still holds with my original premonition that he's late.  But it just makes me nervous.

My next doctors appointment isn't until the 30th.  But it's becoming apparent that while #1 was perfectly happy to stay inside till we came in after him, #2 might just be itching to get out.
