What I leave out of these laugh fests, is that there are many things that I would not be able to do, without him. I am organized where he is not, sure. But he is level headed where I am emotional. He knows lots of things, and is almost always right (no one send him this link), and has made such good decisions in his adult life that we are as successful as we are. When we were dealing with infertility, and I'd get down in the dumps, I'd think all the time about how he was meeting his end of the bargain, but I wasn't meeting mine.

Truly we have a blessed life, and it's in large part to his good works and our good choices. It's not all perfect and it's not supposed to be. He likes to joke that we're getting close to that seven year itch. I roll my eyes. What does that even mean?
It's silly because it's a Taylor Swift song ... but ... life makes love work harder. And it's so true. I was lucky the day I got married. In truth on your wedding day you have no idea what the future holds, you just make a promise, take a vow, eat some cake and hope for the best. You can only pray that the bumps you hit you'll handle together, and that your spouse will forgive you as often as you need forgiving. And you better be willing to do the same for him.
I look back at what we dreamed about and we've mostly stuck to "the plan." Lewis has a grand plan for everything. Always has. I've written five times "we've been lucky" and deleted it. Because it wasn't luck at all. It was Lewis. He worked hard. He knew what he wanted; he went and got it. He walked in his bosses office this past year and told them he needed a promotion, what's next? Forget that he just got one back in June. He's always been like that.
I'm glad we're married. It's hard work, but everything worth having is.
Here's to us ... happy anniversary.
