Falling Out of the Sky
Click to enlarge ... but really do you need much back story beyond these pictures? I got Lewis a tandem skydiving gift certificate for Christmas, that was to be used in tandem (hehe) with one of our buddies. And the event was scheduled for today. So three months later (almost to the day) he got to enjoy his present.
Kids are not encouraged at the air strip (which reminds me of the aero club runways of my youth) so my brother watched G pretty much all day. I left the house about 9:30 (Lew before that) and we didn't get home until a little bit ago. It is so wonderful to have family close by to help us out with things like this. I don't know if Brian appreciates it or not, but some day he will. And if he doesn't, I sure do.
Lewis and Ryan (friend) had a blast and followed all instruction. Lewis said the "worst" part was climbing out onto the wing of the plane and out the little door. The "best" part was when the parachute opened and he had the secure feeling that "he wasn't going to die." For our friend, the free fall was the best part. They both agreed climbing out, and "scooting" to the door was the worst part.
We had a great morning with some of our best buddies and after the dive we went out to lunch, sans kiddos and I have to say there is anything (much) more relaxing than being able to go out to lunch like a grownup.
So check one off the bucket list, Lewis has jumped out of a plane.
