Cute

Yesterday at the library he was so excited that while we were waiting for the elevator, and the subsequent library doors to open at 10, he kept saying "storys, storys, storys."  It gave me hope.  He was good in story time, but he still had to have snacks and his juice.  Is this bad?  I dunno.  He's paying attention to parts of it and he even participated in some of the songs.  One of them asked that you wave your hands up high and low and spin around.  He really likes spinning around.

Today we went out to lunch with his daddy and I have discovered the trick to having a more relaxing lunch.  Usually what happens is I help him eat, neglecting my own food, Lewis eats his food, and then entertains the kid, than I scarf down my food, and then he's climbing out of his chair and it's time to leave.  But today I learned a trick.  I still had to help him with his food, but after he had eaten the appropriate amount, he found a lollipop in mommy's purse.  Said lollipop kept him busy for a good ten, fifteen minutes.  Lewis and I actually got to speak! To each other!

The purse.  He's known about mommy's purse for a long time.  He used to go get it for me when he was ready to leave.  Now he'll remind me when I say we have to go, he'll say "purse?"  And I ask him to get what toys he wants to bring with him (usually two cars) and he says "purse?" and he wants them to be carried in the purse.  When he's in the chair he wants them back, and when he gets out again, he wants to put them back in.  He won't put them in the diaper bag, that's not safe enough, but mommy's purse is always here, and it seems okay.

He is more more and conscious, for lack of a better word.  The other day we had a conversation where he was telling me all about how he and his dad were hitting balls against the tree.  Most of it was him babbling, but I heard tree, ball, and daddy and I put the pieces together.  And when I got it right he said, "yeah!" and enthusiastically explained it all again.

I don't think, when he is full on talking, he will ever stop.

Another thing, reading ... so we've reread alot of the same books and he has his favorites.  If I stop at certain points now, and sort of nudge him, he can supply the missing word.  I have only done this with his two favorite Dr. Suess books (Green Eggs and Ham, and Hop on Pop).  But it's somewhat amazing.  I have no idea what other kids can do in this area but I find it lovely and someone told me because of the way he puts his words together (rhyming words) he shows sign of being an early reader.  I cling to that, I so hope it's true (it probably isn't).  But Hop on Pop is one of his favorite books.  He says it by name, "Hop Pop" and that Dr. Suess guy is a genius.  There's Cup Pup, Cup on Pup.  And if I omit the word Pup, he can supply it.  Same with Box, Fox, in Green Eggs and Ham.  He's so smart, my little man!
