Does my heart good ...
To see G eat so well. He's been doing so very great the last few weeks. With a few bad days that I think are normal and not really indicative of anything recurring or a new habit. I mean some days I don't feel like eating all that much, so I can't really get all that upset if there are a few days that G doesn't want to eat great.
Today he ate half a peanut butter sandwhich (which is literally, one slice of bread, cut in half, with peanut butter and jelly on it) and three large slices of apple (cut into chunks) which he dips into peanut butter. For breakfast he had 4oz of yogurt.
And if you research (which I have) how much an active toddler -
Side note tangent ... the articles from the FDA and the food pyramid say a toddler who is active for 30-60 minutes a day. Um ... what? My kid's active all day. On nice weather days we walk around outside for probably 2 hours plus. Him not in the stroller. And he's always running around the house. What toddler is sitting and doing nothing for 8.5 plus hours a day? Ludicrous. End tangent.
- should eat portion wise, you will find that it's quite small (1tbs). And I think G has always been very good about not eating when he's full, and refusing when he's full.
But folks marvel at me when I say he eats one chicken nugget for dinner. But it's true. He will only eat one. Then we have grapes or peas or something (if he'll do it - sometimes we go straight for the cookies. Sue me). And lots of times he wont eat the chicken at all.
I am so very grateful for what he does eat, and that I can hit all the food groups with foods he does eat. Thank God - seriously, thank the blessed Lord - for peanut butter and thank you Lord that G loves it. He will eat anything dipped in peanut butter (except the chicken, we've tried). So when he wants crackers I usually put a side of peanut butter with it, because any of those good fats and proteins I can get him I will take.
And I'm just really, really grateful for modern medicine, and that G now loves his medicine (no more battle!) and he's not throwing up, and I really really pray that the endoscopy in two weeks shows improvement, so we can try and get off the drugs and go back to life as lived. Without the vomiting.
I think we will be on the meds until he's closer to 3, I do. Just my feeling. I am hoping I am wrong. But if I'm not ... oh well. At least we have something that's working that's not causing the side effects the prior meds were causing. He's a good boy. It makes me very happy when he eats well.
