20 Months

So G hit 20 months at the end of December (duh - it's not like time stopped recently).  Not much changed between 19 months and 20.  He has put on some more weight (haven't weighed him, can't say for sure) but he is definitely growing.  I've noticed his face is getting longer.

The temper tantrums are more ... pronounced? now.  It's annoying.  He's (toddlers in general) are such emotional creatures.  Take a toy away = worst day EVER.  In good news, he is always eager to take a bath and go to bed.  Which I think is funny and I hope lasts.

He says lots of things, can put his pants on standing up, and can almost take his shirt off.  He loves trucks and all things that go.  And his dog.  OH!  And tonight, when we were kissing daddy goodnight, he said Doggy and pointed at the dog and wanted to kiss the dog good night!  He's a sweet heart.

And he's a great traveler.  As long as he has his blanket, he can sleep anywhere and is eager to go to bed.  I'm a little afraid the blanket may be a permanent fixture but if he sleeps I'll take it.  And it's fun traveling with him because he rolls with it, usually. He threw a few tantrums this past week (post later).  One was Gma's fault because she took him to the toy store and he walked around with the kid sized stroller they had, and then we had to leave and it was meltdown central.

He understands LOTS, even when he's being disobediant.  Or willful.  Like not wanting to take his medicine.  Today I sat him down (after trying to do it the fun way; look mama puts it in her mouth, now your turn, okay mama's again, okay now your turn, oh it's mama's turn again, hmmm, but really lets try you) and made him look me in the eye (pointed at his eyes and then mine) and told him he had to take his medicine.  He put on his biggest pout and I swear he grit his teeth.  He didn't give in.  Had to do it the hard way.

The medicine better work, I tell you what.

Which brings me to something that is not an update ...

The pharmacy messed up the instructions on his meds.  Not a major mess up.  The dose was right, but how the dose is delivered was messed up.  It's not completely obvious because ... well it just isn't.  But they got it wrong.  So I called the doc to confirm and sure enough they got it wrong.  I called the pharmacy back and told them and they said "oh it says blah blah blah so we just assumed blah blah blah."  PLEASE DON'T ASSUME WHEN IT COMES TO PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS FOR TODDLERS.

I'm telling you, my dive into medicine lately is eye opening.  You have to know everything.  No one is going to advocate for you.  And I have world class doctors.  That call me personally.  That let me cry and say "he's going to be okay."  They are good people.  They are awesome.  They are working hard to make G better.  I called the PA today and she knew who I was and who G was right away.  Maybe she has a Lisbeth Salander type memory or maybe they just know their cases.  But I still have to stay on top of all of it, and research all of it.  And come up with logical questions.  And push for retesting of allergies (though he said it wouldn't be necessary).  And blah blah blah.

At 20 months old G is hitting every milestone and growing strong and gaining.  So same ole same ole.
