Irritated
Herman Cain. I like you. I do. I'm not completely sold on your 9-9-9 plan, but of all the things that are being discussed at least it seems like you HAVE a plan. Your foreign policy is weak (but so is this President's), you make dumb rookie mistakes.
That all having been said. Please get out. Please? When the first accusations came out I stood by you. I believed you that it was just people out to get you. Now? Umm ... smoke and fire, my good man. Please exit. And while you are absolutely correct it is no one's business whether or not you've been faithful to your wife or not, I just can't stomach it. This, combined with the others (which are probably true as well, in hindsight), just means you are kind of sleazy towards women. Sorry sir. Buh-bye.
Newt. Newt. Newt. I don't know what to do with you. You are a scummy man as well. Left your wife when she had cancer. But maybe you thought it better to be honest with her than to lie to her just because she was sick. No idea. I don't know. You aren't my first pick. My first pick (anyone? anyone?) is no where to be found.
The real cause of my ire this morning is this quote: "And I always tell Malia and Sasha, look, you guys, I don't worry about you . . . they’re on a path that is going to be successful, even if the country as a whole is not successful. But that’s not our vision of America. I don't want an America where my kids are living behind walls and gates, and can’t feel a part of a country that is giving everybody a shot."
Is he serious? He doesn't worry about his kids and their future? No wonder he's not scared (like the rest of us). His daughters are rich and (apparently) super amitious and smart and are going to be able to succeed in these conditions. I can appreciate his optimism. But he really shouldn't say things like that when 315,000 people have given up finding a job.
Now, about that. Everyones all in a roar because unemployment this week is now at 8.6%. And about how 315,000 people have left the work force.
Can I point out the time of year? I would imagine some of that number have kids who are going to be out of school soon, and they need to be home for them at some point this month, probably for two weeks. Why not just put off looking for a job until January and enjoy the holidays as much as possible given their situation?
I want to know how many people left the job search this time last year. If it's not similar I'd be surprised.
