19 Months

So today he is 19 months old and we had our allergist appointment.  This was sort of preliminary.  The doctor (and nurse) were like so ... why are you here?

They knew of course about the diagnosis, the endoscopy, but I think they were interested mostly in what I hoped to get out of it.  To that, my answer - after careful consideration - was that I would like to know if there are serious food allergies we should look for and avoid.  I do not want to put him on any additional medications.  But to use Lewis's words, it'd be irresponsible at this point to not find out if there's a serious allergy to be concerned with.

I was also told that the eosiniophills may be there, just because, and not caused by a food at all.  And I said, is it possible that the recurring acid reflux inflammed his throat and that's why he has this?  And he said yes.

Increasingly I think we will find that the acid reflux was the real culprit, combined with a lactose and soy intolerance.  I believe those two items will show up on the blood test as allergies.

We drew blood for the allergy tests (which went A LOT better the second time) and those results will be back in a week.  We have another appointment with the gastroenterologist in two weeks and I need to make an appointment for a weight check at the pediatrician.  We will also have another endoscopy done in 4 weeks.

I feel like my holiday season is going to be spent in doctors offices.  Bah humbug.
