I can not express enough how cool this was. I'm not even sure the pictures do it justice. Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is by far the best I've ever been to and I've done some cool ballooning. Chama was awesome. White Sands is beautiful ... but I don't think there is anything quite like watching 500 balloons take off all at the same time. It's incredible.
We all did great waking up at 5AM every day and going to the field and going out to breakfast three times because the weather stunk. Finally on Sunday ... awesome. Next year we'll go the entire week. Thank goodness it coincides with a good week for Lew to miss work!
Now G liked the balloons ... but the planes. Oh the planes. We took him to the airshow on the final day of Fiesta for the Thunderbirds performance.
And he hollered and oooh'd and aahhh'd and loved it. Really truly loved it. He was so tired (he'd taken an hour and a half nap after ballooning) and so off schedule and he did great and was so excited about all the planes and even said something very close to "fire truck" when he saw the one on the flight line. Even other people recognized the word (not just me).
He truly loves trucks. Obsessively. We drive down the road and he sees on out the back and I hear - "Oooooh! Tuck!" We stopped on the way home at a rest stop that overlooked the highway and he just about fell down he was dancing so much, woo-hooing over the trucks. He's amazing.
I'm going to post everything online somewhere for normal people to see.
