I would like to take this moment ...
To give a shout out to the stay at home mom's everywhere, who do the thankless work that others only wish they could do, or that others wouldn't dream of doing. I would like to give a big round of applause to all the adults who played peek-a-boo, read the same book over and over, chased the dog around the house, wiped ounces and ounces of applesauce off countertops and floors, stood in awe as a wall-eyed fit was thrown (for really no apparent reason) and did. not. laugh (because that makes it worse). I say good job to all the caretakers who bathed a dog with the hose, and then turned the hose on the kid, because what the heck, it's Friday, and we ain't got crap to do. I say bravo to the individuals among us who danced around the house to 90s pop songs, baby on hip, and spun in circles until the kid was hyperventilating he was laughing so hard. I say you are appreciated to the people who played hide and seek, who stacked blocks to only knock them down, and who gave in at lunch time when we didn't want to eat the PB&J, so we had watermelon instead, who tried to hide peas and corn in applesauce (and didn't get away with it) and now hope that somehow the vitamins in said peas and corn were transfered to the child through osmosis. I say kudos to those who got out the crayons and the paper, and made a masterpiece worthy of the Lourve. To all the folks out there who pointed out "shoes" "birds" "trucks" "pants" "shirt" "arm" "foot" "couch" "dog" "grass" "table" "spoon" "fork" "candle" "train" and the name of every other object that was pointed at with an expression as if to say, "what is that?" I say Lord Bless and keep you.
I also say ... it's been a long day, bedtime is reached. Goodnight.
