I have mentioned a hundred times that stroller fit (now Baby Boot Camp) is the greatest single thing I've done as a stay at home mom. One, it gave our day structure from the beginning. Two, it gets me moving and working out. Three, it was regular trips in the stroller and carseat and he now does not mind either. (This last one is his temperment too - some kids - no matter how much exposure - just HATE being restrained).
But these days, with a toddler who does not need or require as many naps it's nice because I can get my workout in, and then he can go play at the mall play area before it gets too nuts. Which he adores.
He seriously loves this place. Its a small square that has soft obstacles and things to climb under and over and little slides perfect for small people.
My biggest complaint is there are too many big kids. I can handle the under 3s, but the 5 year olds? Running around crazy style? It's not fair to either kid. The small ones are too slow and get in the way, the big kids are too big and too fast.
I feel like a good person when I take him here because he just has so much fun. I feel bad making him leave but I can't handle the place when there are more than 10 or so kids, and by 20 after 10 today there were at least 4 kids over 5 and several more under that.
It's too hard to keep G out of the way, so we moved on to the bookstore. His other favorite place.
It's easy to keep him up if it's a one nap day, as long as he's entertained. If he gets bored the fuss monster may come out. But it wears me out running with him all the time.
But lately, his favorite activities are sitting outside and pointing out all the birds and airplanes that fly by. This is not a hard one to manage, if there are enough planes that fly by.
I would like to point out that all of these activities (except the boot camp class) are free. As long as you don't actually buy any books from the bookstore. Which I can't promise.
This is a very fun age. You can reason with G to a certain extent, he'll follow instructions to a certain extent, he enjoys looking at new and different things and simple things like airplanes and big construction trucks are amazing entertainment. It's pretty cool to see the world through a little person's eyes.
