Memorial Day East Coast Tour

Because I do nothing the easy way. I'm going to skip the beginning drama that was this trip and just get to the actual trip. We traveled from DFW to Philadelphia on Friday night, arriving after 1AM. Oh yeah, so fun with a one year old. But my little road trip warrior did awesome. I kept telling myself "my friends who adopted a little angel from Russia did this, for 12 hours. I can handle three late night."

We crashed out at my bro-in-laws and then the next day got up and drove to upstate New York (see, nothing easy).  Lewis's gma lives up there, and it was so lovely to see her and her house.  Grady had never met her, and it was just a fun meet and greet.  We played cards (the girls beat the boys - WOOT!) and then I had to go to bed.  The next day we drove back to Philly.

Our last day in Philly we relaxed and let G-man have his two naps, because he loves them (his mom does too).  And then (because I do nothing easy) we got on the train and headed south to DC!

We spent a day and a half with one of my oldest friends and her son in Washington DC.  In a bizaree, I-feel-like-a-crazy-jet-setter coincidence, my dad was in DC while we were there, and we had dinner with him in Old Town Alexandria.  There are literally, a thousand pictures.  This is just what I knew I took that was oh-kay and that I wanted to share.  There is also some more with Jason and Jolene, a soft play room in DC that was soooo fun (have to find one here), so much more of New York, and their beautiful home, some pictures of the Natural History Museum and Smithsonian in DC, the Capitol from a distance, etc.  But this trip was mostly about seeing people, and people seeing Grady.  So there are a lot of those too.

My thoughts on extended traveling with a kid?  If you don't give them a choice and just do it, it's going to be great.  It's going to be hard but seriously, it does end.  And a person can deal with anything for a week.  It helps to have friends and family that are willing to take you to a store to buy diapers and food so you dont have to travel with those, and always, always, always have two meals in your diaper bag.  So if you leave in the AM, have lunch and dinner in the bag.  I made this mistake, will not do it again.  Two meals, plenty of snacks, and a cup.  And all will be well.

More later, once my heads back on straight.
