Grapes!

My child has reflux / texture / food issues.  From about 8 - 10 months he threw up every day.  Every day, and I am not exaggerating.  This was partly because of left over acid reflux (he would spit up after every feeding) and partly because we were trying more texture rich foods and G is texture adverse.

Meaning: if it is too slimy, it doesn't make it past the goalie.  No cheese (too smooth), no pasta (too smooth).  These are both kid staples!  It is frustrating to those who are tasked with feeding him.

If a food is too slimy, he wont touch it.  He pokes at it with his pointer finger and looks at me like, what are you trying to poison me with?  There is still a lot of milk and puree's in our diet  for these reasons.  Though every day we do improve.   So this is why if you hear me get excited about eating something, it's a big deal.

Case in point, a few days ago I gave G some of my plain white rice.  And he ate it!  It was amazing!  And yesterday we were at a Mexican food place and I gave him some of my rice and beans (on a spoon) and he ate them!  It was a small miracle!  These are things that most kids (around here anyway) eat from like 9 months on.  But seriously if you put beans on G's tongue he'd spit them out immediately.  But yesterday he ate them!

And today, he ate grapes!

Okay I know this one is kind of gross but ... I also think it's sort of funny / cute.

These developments mean we can add to our rotation of yogurt, pb&j, mandarin oranges, animal crackers, and cheerios (and purees).  And that is good news.
