I have no faith
That the President and Congress are telling the truth or know what they are doing about the budget. You have Mitch McConnell talking about how this is the biggest crisis we've ever faced ... blah blah. Do you know how long McConnell has been a Senator? Since 1985.
Do you know how many budget's he's voted on? A lot. Including all the budgets that have gotten us to this point.
Most of the Congressional leaders that are on tv talking about how bad it is, how much we need to cut (Republicans) and how much we need to raise taxes (Democrats) are the same morons that spent our way into oblivion. Some of it is just inflation, and mandatory spending expenses (SS, Medicare) but a lot of it is descretionary.
And this crap about raising taxes, now we have to raise taxes on the rich. We had this conversation last November / December, and you know what Nancy Pelosi's Congress did? They extended the Bush Tax Cuts, and President Obama signed them into law. That was JUST 5 months ago. But now, the Bush Tax cuts are the problem again, and the problem is that we're paying too little into SS.
And that TRULY blows my mind because The White House added the lowering of the Social Security tax by .10% to the Bush Tax Cut Extensions.
They are all liars. They are all cheats. They are all bought and paid for by Unions and Lobbyists. I have little faith that the Freshman Class brought to us by the Tea Party Caucus can make any changes. Most of those are praising the recent cuts that got the FY 2011 budget passed. And most, if not all, of those "cuts" are gimmicks. "Cut" from President Obama's PROPOSED budget, and not the actual Budget from FY 2010. And they "cut" things that were set to expire this year anyway. It's all smoke and mirrors.
I'm so sad. My son is going to inherit a country that is broke and he's going to have the baby boomer's on his back. It makes my heart hurt.
I want to drain the swamp again.
PS - Gas at $5 a gallon is going to crush us. If the Democrats think there is pressure to cut spending ... wait till the entire nation is screaming this summer. The price of an economic recovery is more demand for oil, and more demand for oil (+ losing the oil rig in the gulf last summer) = $5 gas. And it's not just at the pump, everything is going to get more expensive. Retailers, businesses, grocers, farmers ... all of it ... their gas expenses just went from $3.50 to almost $5. Add that percentage to the cost of all goods.
I'm scared of the fall of 2011. Because it's beginning to look a lot like 2008 and that promised double dip my financial guy keeps talking about.
Also - I do wonder about Donald Trump and the birther crap. Not in that I don't think the President should be the President. In fact, at this point, if he wasn't born here, I don't want to know. President Joe Biden? Not so much. But I do wonder ... Trump is spending money sending out private investigators. Just what might have happened if that research had been done prior to the 08 election?
And, if what he's uncovered is right, that at the time people with US family members who had children born overseas sent birth announcements to US papers to use as proof of birth (and it worked) so their kids could get US citizenship and privledges ... I mean how is that any more foreign a concept than pregnant women getting a tourist visa and then giving birth here so their kids can be citizens? We all know that happens.
I dont know that it matters. Trump is a joke and if he runs as an Indepedent (he'll never get the Rep nomination), President Obama should send him a thank you note.
