No Ground War
2200 Marines are deploying to Libya for 10 months. 10 Months. And the President has the nerve to go on television and say we'll be there days not weeks. Their orders are for 10 months!
Oh, and there's no ground war in Libya.
My number one pet peeve about President Clinton and now President Obama is they both send the military away from their families and go on and on about how it isn't a war, it isn't a war.
Tell that to the families at home waiting for their mom's and dad's to come back. Tell that to the men and women collecting HAZARD PAY for being there.
His speech last night sounded like so many that I heard President Bush give about saving the people in Iraq. About saving people, doing the right thing, allowing freedom and democracy. Ousting people that would do them harm. They all owe President Bush an apology. Every last one of them. President Obama waited 10 days to order air strikes on Libya. President Bush waited a year and a half. Saddam Hussein was systematically killing an entire sect of people in his country, and the world community didn't bat an eye. They passed 12 UN resolutions (that he ignored) and did nothing.
Some people count. Some people don't.
And to be clear, The Libyan's deserve and need our help. But the abject hypocrisy, the lies about the scope and plan about the military operation and the men and women involved, makes my blood boil.

AHH! See what I did? I said "to be clear!" Ugh.
Maybe it isn't lies. Maybe it's tomato / tomato. But in my gut of guts, I know that these people are using spin words to sugar coat a reality they don't want to admit to their bases. They know we are at war, they know the military is at war. They know we're going to BE at war, for a while. They should just SAY THAT. This governing thing, it sure is hard, isn't it? Sure is easier to Monday morning quarterback from the cheap seats, and take cheap shots at the guy making the hard decisions, isn't it?
I just ... ugh. The whole thing makes me crazy. Sometimes I think I'd be happier if I got into a soap opera, instead of bouncing back and forth between CNN and Fox News.
