Adventures in Sewing: Stroller Accessories
So my stroller suffers from a storage issue. This was worse when he wasn't old enough to sit upright, and we put the whole carseat contraption in there, the back of the stroller had to lay flat and then you couldn't get into the basket underneath at all. I really needed this bag then. But, oh well.
The idea here is I just throw the diaper / food bag in here. Or during stroller fit, throw the toys that are necessary in here. Or my work out equipment. Or what have you.
This is actually a pattern for a stroller liner, that I am using in the place I need it the most. I could make button holes for the top straps to go through, but have you ever used the button hole sewing foot? Yeah that was tricky. I got it figured out, several attempts in.
Now you can see this project is not quite finished, it needs to be bound round the edges. But - and this is where my neurosis really shine through - adding anything to your carseat is a risk. You even so much as put a seat protector under the thing that the manufacturer says they can not guarentee your childs safety. So why do this? Because it would be super nice to not have to hose down the entire car after the kid throws up (I could go into how this happens, the holes the straps go through, the well beneath the seat, the projectile-ness, etc. But I'll spare you). Which he does. All the time*. The hope is he'd throw up, get it on this thing, take this thing out, wash it, wipe down the seat, viola we're all set. This would be good for trips** as well, when you do not have the luxury of stopping on the side of the road and taking the seat cover off and cleaning it. You could just take this thing out.
Again, something I really could have used FROM DAY ONE. Sigh. My second kid is going to totally benefit from my brilliance. Poor Grady.
*I would like to point out that were it not for a stupid, errant puff, yesterday would have been the rare day without vomit. And yes this is my life.
**We had this problem on the way to New Mexico - to the airport. Threw up in the carseat on the way there. We had to stop along side the highway and clean him and the seat up. This is why I always have multiple outfits and a huge suitcase.
