All I want for Christmas...

Lewis's good friend from high school, and we've known them for so long they are my friends too, got married over the weekend in Denver.  Baby's first plane ride!

Well, his first plane ride was not his finest hour.  He did oh-kay.  He slept on the way up, but then the way down when we descended into Denver he just cried.  Not fun for mommy.  It was a long day, that first day, and really, he spent most of the trip looking like this:
Such a sad face!  He wasn't sleeping great (I've decided he doesn't like sharing a room) and he was just tired.  Or was he ...

The first night in town was miserable.  He cried for a long time and was really hard to settle down.  It wasn't until I put my finger in his mouth to see if he wanted to suck on that that I felt it ...

What's that?  You can't see them?  Let me zoom in ...

What you see there, are teeth.  The one on the right was through by Thursday evening, late.  The one on the right came through on Sunday evening, another long night.  My poor silly, 24 week old, had decided that our trip to the Mile High City would be an excellent time to grow some chompers.

Could I have been consulted before this decision, you think?  Because I would have recommended we wait a week.

At first I could not believe it.  "Is there something else that comes through their gums first?" I asked my friend.  Who texted back, "you know they are teeth crazy lady!"  I could not beleive it.  It seems way too early.  This says between 4 - 7 months is normal, so Grady isn't super early or anything.  But most of our friends had kids that cut teeth around or after 12 months.  My good friend said her son cut his teeth at 5 months too ... but I just couldn't BELIEVE that he was really teething.  And while we were TRAVELING.

In spite of the teething, it was a good trip.  The nights were long, but we had a good time during the day visiting with friends and seeing my cousins in Colorado Springs!  It was a busy 6 days for Grady.

He seemed to learn to sleep heavier while there.  But a couple days / nights in our quiet house will fix that back to normal.  He is almost rolling over front to back.  Which is super cool.  And he's almost sitting up unaided.  Almost.  This one takes a bit more effort on his part and he really was not in the mood most of the trip.

Due to the almost rolling over bit, it's time to wean him off the sleep sac, me thinks.  He can move in it, to be sure, but if he got onto his stomach from his back, he would have a hard time getting his legs under him to roll back over, should he want to.  So last night he slept in just a sleeper.  And he did well.  So it seems like a good time to start that transition.  This worries me because that means we're also more dependent on blankets for warmth.  He's good about pulling things off his face usually, but a sleepy G?  Who knows.

But what does Grady say?

When you are this cute, you are forgiven many things.  Including a sleepless vacation for mommy.
