Adventures in Babysitting

To celebrate Lewis's birthday, we had an afternoon date.  To have an afternoon date, I had to find an afternoon babysitter.  We had 3-4 hours.  Time for a quick late lunch (early dinner?) and a short movie or just a movie.  Lewis works with schools so he thought it might be beneficial for him to see the new movie, Waiting for Superman.  Which, the movie is a topic for the other blog me thinks, but it was well worth watching, especially as a new parent.

My next door neighbors offered to watch Grady for us.  This would be the second time that Grady was left with a non family member.  We've gone out four times without G, the first he stayed home with my mother, the second, my good friend Katie watched him while we went to a baseball game, the third, my brother stayed with him while we went out to dinner.

I always think, before we go out, okay, I'm not going to worry about him, he'll be fine.  And every time we go out, I'm checking my cell phone for texts every twenty minutes.  I feel guilty for leaving him.  I know how much work he is, how much we are asking of our friend / family. This time I did better.  I only started to worry when it was almost time to be home.

When I went over to pick him up, he was laying on the floor with their daughter, blowing bubbles and laughing.  He gave me a big smile and a giggle when he saw me (always awesome) but it was very clear he was well looked after.  And it was so cute seeing him on the floor with their baby girl (6 weeks younger than him).  He even took 4 ounces from a bottle! (This is a feat because as a breastfed baby with a SAHM, he is not always keen on bottles, he's spoiled.)

I love that he was good for them (he did fuss for a while and then they fed him and he was fine).  I love that he was laughing for them and he was his happy self.  It makes me happy.
