Who Made You King?
You've got opinions man / we're all entitled to 'em / But I never asked / So let me thank you for your time / and try not to waste any more of mine / get out of here fast / Who cares if you disagree? you are not me / Who made you King of anything? / You sound so innocent / so full of good intent / swear you know best / but you expect me to / jump on board with you / ride off into your delusional sunset
This is my new theme song, in dealing with those oh so lovely and helpful folks who know what my 20 week old son should be doing.
I've revisited the book the doctor recommended. It's actually not the devil. according to it for months 4 - 8 old, a healthy sleep schedule is thus:
Bedtime 6 - 8PM
1st awakening (4 - 6 hours later)
2nd awakening
Start the day: 7AM
1st nap: 9AM
2nd nap: 1PM
3rd nap: varies
That's what he most consistently does. This may seem like a small thing to those of you in the void ... but this reaffirmation is just ... reaffirming. Some babies don't need the night feedings. But...
"This night feeding, and a second night feeding, may be needed until the baby is about 9 months of age."
There were four women who were pregnant with me. All had girls. All but one of them are sleeping through the night. And the one who isn't is younger than Grady. I sort of feel / felt like the odd one out. The new parent who didn't "get it" and who's child was suffering because of it.
I sort of understand why he "perscribed" this book. Most of the soothing methods that it recommends we are already doing. And ...
"Major Points: Letting your baby "cry it out" is not the only way your baby will learn to sleep. Babies and children learn to sleep when parents focus on timing, motionless sleep and consistency in soothing style."
Hallelujah.
