Eating Their Own
Republicans are lambasting the win of Christine O'Donnell last night for GOP candidate for Biden's vacant senate seat. She beat out U.S. Rep. Mike Castle, and boy howdy are the GOP'ers irritated.
Karl Rove got on the morning shows talking about how the seat was lost, that O'Donnell stood no chance of beating Democrat Chris Coons and ...
WHAT!?!
Mike Castle voted for an ammendment that would have brought impeachment proceedings agatins President GW Bush.
Mike Castle is also for gun control legislation.
Mike Castle voted for TARP.
Mike Castle (and his is enough for me) voted. for. cap. and. trade.
So, Mr. Rove, how in the name of all that is lovely does Mike Castle represent ANYTHING the GOP wishes to accomplish?
And for the record, if Mike Castle does represent the GOP, then the GOP does not represent me. I am sick and tired of Senators. They think they are ordained and have a right to be there. And I'm tired of the RNC and the GOP thinking that they can pick who I send to Washington, instead of letting me do the choosing myself.
They will work with who I elect, and I have decided to not elect who they already work with.
My gut? Mike Castle has been in politics since 1965, as a Republican. He's been in the House since 1993. The RNC and Senate leaders wanted him to take this seat because they know how he'll vote and how he'll behave. They are more interested in the number of R's in the building than how conservative those R's actually are.
Well, I'm tired of Olympia Snowe. I'm tired of the Kay Bailey's. I'm tired of the Republicans and fiscal conservatives who say they are for limited Government when they are back home asking for money, but as soon as they get back to Washington they vote for huge spending bills that are rammed through before anyone has a chance to read them.
And I'm tired of candidates that get to run for in the governor primary and keep their Senate seat. When her seat comes up, I'll be voting against her in that primary.
Anyway. I don't know if Christine O'Donnell is electable. I know that the GOP in Delaware and the voters of Delaware liked her better than the establishment GOP alternative. And that today, her donations are way up, and as of this afternoon, several lead GOP'ers have come round and lent her support.
A Republican is sitting in Ted Kennedy's seat (though he's not a conservative by any means). Anything is possible.

that O'Donnell did not represent the conservative characteristics of "rectitude and truthfulness and sincerity."
