Rangel Charged

DUDE.  Rep. Charlie Rangel has been formally charged by the ethics committee for his tax evasion crap. (WaPo)

I can't find commentary on this yet.  It must have just been announced?  I dare not put the news channels on.  They'll be in a dither.

If you aren't familiar with all of Rangel's infractions, here's a timeline.  It reads like a bad political thriller.  How do these scumbags think they can do such WRONG things and not get caught? I'd imagine he's going to lose his seat.

And in other news, our ridiculously spendthrift Congress approved yet another unemployment benefits extension.  $13T in the hole we are.  That's more zeros then I can add.  And unemployment rose again this week, after falling recently, probably because of funny counting of census workers.

Why not put that debt into tax cuts so that companies feel some comfidence in spending?  Spending not just on goods but on payroll?  And what the heck is the Paycheck Fairness Act?!?  And does it really require that businesses provide pay roll data on the gender, race and national origin of employees?  Really?  And read the Forbes commentary ... if what they say is true, the bill is awful and very, very invasive to businesses.

So if I go in for a job, and the pay range is $25k - $35k, and I accept $25, but someone else negotiates for $40k, under the new law, we would have to be paid the same amount.

What rubbish.  If I can't negotiate better for myself it's my own stupid fault.

I just get so tired of this whole attitude by our government that private companies are bad.  They employ people!  They provide livings for most Americans.  They are not evil!  They are companies that are trying to stay in business, that's all.  And unlike the Federal Government, they have to make a profit in order to stay alive.  Because, unlike the Government, they have to pay employees, pay to expand, and pay taxes.

I have to stop reading.  The state of things just really upsets me.
