Hello, Time Warner Cable?

If you don't negotiate and keep ABC / ESPN / DISNEY, we will be dropping your coverage and switching to Dish.  Not that month, not that week, that DAY.

So while you keep sending me emails telling me that you're working hard to keep the cost of cable down, I know what you know ... that you are already the most expensive television option out there.  And that if you have to raise prices to keep your profit margin, you're going to lose more customers to dish or the fiber channel providers.  So you can't do that, which is why you're fighting so hard.  By your own admission, 40% of my monthly payments go to the television companies.  The other 60%, yeah that all goes to you.  Admin costs and profit.

What doesn't get eaten up by taxes, I guess.

So, my point Time Warner, is that I already really, really dislike you.  If you lost ESPN, that'll push it over the edge.  And I'll suffer with Dish until I can get Fios or U-Verse.

Which I told you, in the survey you made me take last month.  In the comment section, I said, we will switch the day we find out you won't carry ESPN.

Which is why the whole thing is just crap.  No one is going to get television service from a company that doesn't carry ESPN or ABC.  Time Warner knows this.  Disney, most importantly, knows this.  So while TIme Warner makes big noise about "standing tough" against "greedy" television companies, Disney is just laughing.

Try and drop ESPN.  Try.  We dare you.

It's not just ESPN/ABC/Disney (although that's a total deal-breaker), it's NBC last year, and Fox the year before that (in the Austin market, at least). At some point TWC needs to stop with the propaganda, look in the mirror, and accept the fact that THEY are the problem, not all the other guys.

I don't understand why you are not a directv customer anyway. I love my directv. I called them and told them I was thinking about switching and I told you what they did. I will say it again here so everyone knows how amazing they are. I have been a directv customer for two years now, I switched to directv because time warner in Dayton, OH dropped ABC. I watch Grey's Anatomy, it was a deal breaker. So I switched, two months ago I bought a house and called them to say I thought my bill was too expensive and I wasn't sure I wanted to keep them. They proceeded to tell me that I can upgrade my plan from one receiver to two HD DVR receivers and they dropped $20 off my bill. I am a very satisfied customer. my dish is fastened to my house and we NEVER lose service. My HD looks amazing and so much better than what time warner had. I say switch to directv and you will be glad you did.

Stu, if you read some industry trade publications and media commentators, there is NO WAY the cable provider can be at fault. The PROGRAMMING PROVIDERS are starting this war in all cases. If you knew the industry, you would also know that Disney did the same thing to Cablevision, a major carrier in the NYC area. And one group of Fox stations got nasty about retransmission agreements for their stations. Program providers are desperate for more money since advertising revenues are going down, and they resort to unprofessional tactics like this.

Reality: they will reach an agreement. Disney can't afford not to pull their programming from the second largest cable system in the country. It's a big show to get more money.

Check out one of the links that the bogus Disney "I Have Choices" Facebook site put up. The guest (at 1:41) even goes far as to say "Some of the commercials that are being aired by the anti Time Warner people - it could be Disney for all we know - are pretty hilarious." Balance the ihavechoices.com diatribe with the rolloverorgettough.com reasoned arguments, and do some more industry research, and you'll be a more informed consumer.

Oh - the video link I referred to is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1SRlKHuoMY - and look at the mix of comments on the FB "I Have Choices" page (which hasn't been able to get more than about 300 fans, many of which have other issues with TWC and so it's easy for them to get mad and blame it on the cable company) - http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/ihavechoices

Hot topic, apparently. I agree with Megan, just switch to DirecTV I can get you THE BEST deal on the service!

It looks like TW and Disney have minions searching the interwebs.

I use the term dish to mean any dish provider, not Dish specifically. I shouldn't have capitolized that in the first place. Oh well.

We would have dropped TWC last January had they not reached an agreement with Fox. I do not like TWC. They are expensive, and they raise rates without notification, and it's just crap. The only reason we don't have a dish provider now anyway, is because we had it in our apartment in Addison and it always went out when it rained. Soured us to it.

But ... this may just be the push I need to do it.

Matt - oh yeah, I bet you can get me a GREAT deal. :)

We hate cable. We love our satellite. We will never go back to cable.

All this bashing of the cable companies makes me laugh. You guys only blame the cable company, but never look at the selfish programmers like ABC.

The same thing happens with Dish and Direct TV when their contracts run out with the channels. It's all the same thing and the only common thread is the stations. They are the ones taking advantage of you, not the cable companies. I think it's pretty cool that a cable company is standing up to these selfish channels, maybe if they all did (TW, Comcast, Cox), we would finally stop this never-ending rate increases we consumers have to deal with because of ABC and other stations.

Hmmm ... another minion.

TWC over charges me for more than just cable television, so I can hate them for a multitude of reasons. The difference between TW's fights with the programmers and the others, is that they've made national news of late, and they alert their customers to them in an attempt to put pressure on the channels themselves.

TW is overpriced and too expensive. They charge me to upgrade to a package that contains 1 channel that I want and 300 that I don't want. If they would let their customers have true choice, this wouldn't be a problem. Channels would cost what they cost, and people would have the channels that they want and not the ones that they dont. What's ION? I don't need that. Or TruTV, don't need that. Speed? Don't need that. TVOne? Don't need that. ALN? Don't need that. TBN? I could go on.

The normal household watches maybe 30 chanels (that's being generous) and has access to 300-400. That is INSANE.

One more thing, somebody said on here that Disney won't let their program get pulled from the second largest cable provider in the country (a TWC minion).

I contend, that if Disney pulls, that TWC will no longer BE the second largest cable provider in the country.

Also - my comment about how channels are bundled ... I realize all of them dish, fyber, etc. do it this way. And it's retarded. But that little channels benefit from this set up, so I don't want to make channels that have few viewers just disappear, but ... there has to be a better way.

I'd register, but this is barely worth my time as it is.

Blame the advertiser's. There's no reason to blame the broadcaster or the provider.

Do more research than what you read on one of the providers websites, or the broadcasters websites.

I believe everything I read on the internets!
