Adventures in Sewing: Shirt addition

I have some great new fabric to make a new blanket and towel with.  But before I cut into the pretty stuff, I wanted to practice with patterns (it's been a WHILE).

So I made the above.  One would argue you dont need a pattern for this, but I cant cut straight.  Patterns help.  It's a little silly.  And its the complete wrong fabric for the design.  It needs to be lighter weight.  But I'm quite pleased with it, my first foray into clothes making.

I made some changes from the pattern.  The pattern called for binding tape all around the top edges, and a tie across the front.  Well, the ribbon look tie made it a bit feminine looking, I thought.  So I replaced that with a single black button.  It also called for a second fabric to be sort of the seam across the bottom. I couldn't find a remnant at the house that would work, so I just made the shirt a tad longer.

Stay tuned for the great fabric!
